Yeah not sure what you misread...but I was saying that the teams have to pay penalty on cap if he retires before contract over (lebongo) and it COULD happen, so we need to make sure in game eventually. We agreed on that.
*Yes realized that with O'Reilly as well. In some ways it was why Feaster was fired.
I still think Kovi has to be waived through league right? If comes in late in year (half way through or whatever)
I got what you said on O'Reilly. But it is NOT something that happens. It is unrealistic at this point. Teams won't trade the rights to RFAs...BUT at the same time....still need to have value in that player's rights. Agian we agreed.
And yes I agree on the wishlist part of it.
You seem to be thinking here I am disagreeing with you. Not sure where I was.

I'd like to see all Canadian Hockey League roster / transaction rules, such as;
*CHL wide (OHL/WHL/QMJHL)
- All teams have ability to add ANY player in the corresponding leagues protected area to their 50 player protected list until the year of their 20th birthday if the players rights are not owned by any other team.
- Teams having more than three overage players to start the season may continue to rotate them in and out of the lineup until October 16th at which time they must select determine the three that they will keep, the left over overager would be released and be a free-agent.
*OHL Specific
- If a player is not selected as a 15 year-old, he cannot attend an OHL camp that fall. He must wait another season, his 16 year-old year, and he will re-enter the draft. If he is not taken the second time around, he becomes a free agent and can go to the camp of any OHL team who invites him and then therefore be added to any protected list.
- Teams are permitted to register a maximum of four 16 year old players selected in the OHL Priority Selection. Those 16 year old players that are allowed to be signed are the first two 16 year old players selected and a maximum addition of two 16 year old wild carded players in any round of the OHL Priority Selection. All other 16-year-old players selected are eligible to be called up as an “affiliated player” or “floating affiliate player” for a maximum of 10 games or for any OHL regular season or playoff games when such player’s team has been eliminated from competition for that season.
- Contracted players in high school (18 and younger) cannot be traded without the players consent. (No trade cause)
* WHL Specific
- A team can name a maximum of 19 of the players on their Protected List and not on the team roster as Specially Affiliated Players. These players can play WHL games with the permission of their club team.
*QMJHL Specific
- A team can name a maximum of 19 of the players on their Protected List and not on the team roster as Specially Affiliated Players. These players can play WHL games with the permission of their club team.
- Players from the QMJHL's North American region are eligible for the Annual Draft in the calendar year that they turn 16. Teams can select 16 year olds in any of the first five rounds. After that only players 17 years and up are eligible to be drafted. There's a maximum of 12 rounds. (Not sure if this is already active).

Also a very odd compensation draft pick rule in the OHL;
Teams will receive compensatory picks if a player doesn't report and they elect to trade him or put him back into the following draft. A window has also been opened for teams to trade the player prior to Sept. 1. So now you can only trade the player selected in the first round that year prior to Sept.1 or between Jan. 1-10.
The rule is complicated.
First, if a team trades its first-round pick, it can only receive draft picks from the other team in return.
If he was among the top four players chosen in the draft, the team can trade him prior to Sept. 1 and as compensation receive the fifth-overall pick the following year, plus a bonus pick at the end of the second round.
If that team waits until January to trade the player, they will not get the second-round pick.
If the player was selected later in the first round, between fifth and 20th overall, the team can trade him before Sept. 1 and receive a compensatory pick one spot later than where they selected him.
For example, if the team had the fifth-overall pick, they will get the sixth-overall choice the next year in addition to their regular first-round selection. If they wait until January to trade the player their compensation pick drops to the second round.
If a team elects not to trade the player, they can still receive compensation, but the player is reentered into the following the draft. If a team elects to hold onto the player, there is no compensation.

Since this year in the QJMHL, it's a 14 round draft and you can draft 15yo player (player who played 15yo this year) for the whole draft. Not only for the 5 or 7 first round. It's brand new from this year.

2. NCAA - there are so many players going to the NHL and other leagues from college. It's about time this gets set up better. I'm not saying it even has to be playable at this point, but at the very least, Division I needs to be a league that contains all of the conferences and not have them all separate. That makes it impossible to scout and to really get a sense of who is good in the league by comparison. Also, the junior leagues need to be more populated so the college teams can have enough players to choose from (USHL, NAHL, BCHL, etc.). I could go on and on about this one, so I'll let it go for now until someone else wants to have a more thorough discussion.
I'd love to see this as well.
We have been short on researchers for the NCAA and US Jr. Easier to get researchers for playable leagues, I guess.
We're gonna make a request for more reseachers soon. Let me know if you're interested
Are you still looking for NCAA researchers? I'm very familiar with a majority of the schools. Particularly the western schools (UND, Minnesota, Michigan, etc) and would be happy to contribute.

Great! I've been waiting for someone to post any missing things from Major Junior.
Isn't the overager-deadline on different dates for the three leagues, though?
And I'd like to see the waiver system included (first in active league, then for the other two). Or is it in? I haven't played major junior in EHM:EA yet

One thing that has annoyed for like a decade with this game. Why can't I set scouts to permanently scout the NHL Draft? I can set scouts to regions and leagues permanently. But its annoying that I have to dick with resetting my NHL Draft scouts every three months. I greatly wish for the option to be able to set scouts to the Draft permanently.

I think the OA deadline is different in every league, but I could only find the date for the WHL so I just applied that to all leagues.
I am not sure how the waiver system works, but I think it works as if a team was to release a contracted player he would go through waivers in his own league then once he was passed through he would go through the other two. I am sure there are more details to it but it is hard to find information... I will continue to look. (No it is not in EHM:EA yet)

Yeah and also...on the go to the other two. That is few and far between for the WHL. In fact in all the time I can recall there is not ONE player who was OHL or Q protected by region who has played in the WHL. In the last 5 years there have been maybe 3 or so go from WHL to the other leagues, and 2 of them at least have been goalies.
The game does this switch far too often. In fact I bet if I went through my game right now there would be several guys from every league protected area in each league. This is completely innacurate. First of all....the players do not want to go (at least from W to Q and O, and vice versa) and second....the teams in those leagues prefer to use guys from their own areas ... as they should. Bring in an extra young guy and develop him for the future instead of an 18 year old from the WHL or a 19 or 20 for that matter.

Also would be nice to see players not 100% on their commitment to playing either "Major Junior" or "US College". Often you see players get drafted into the CHL, but only later commit to college. Or you will see players who sign letters of content with college teams, only to choose to go Major Junior (usually only to higher profile teams).
Younger players when first drafted into the CHL should also on occasion be homesick and request a trade closer to there families.

Just found that. Some tactic about the powerplay on 4vs3 and same thing for penalty killing, 3vs4 will be very nice.

This is a neat mechanic that's in OOTP (you'll notice I get some inspiration from the series in my wishlist). Players have local popularity ratings and also can have preferences on where they want to play. This could be taken a step further, such as some players prefer to play in big cities, or may prefer to play in Canada or close to home or wherever. This would be a rather nice falvor addition.

More players requesting trades
Players in major junior request trades quite often as they want the best opportunity to showcase there skills for the NHL, so if they are playing on the 3rd line with no PP time they will request a trade so they can get more playing time...

Here is information on signing players from other leagues protected areas...
The QMJHL commissioner Gilles Courteau spelled it out. Under the new agreement signed off on by the OHL, WHL and CHL, the following system will be used. Players 17 years of age will have to clear waivers in their home territory. Then waivers in the QMJHL before a team will have the right to sign a player from outside.
In the case of players aged 18 or 19 the team wanting the player will have to contact the QMJHL and name the player and home. A search will then be done to assure that player is not on the protected list of any team in the appropriate league. (e.g. a player lives in Cornwall, Ontario. The protected lists of all teams in the OHL will be searched.) If the player is not on any protected list in that league then the Q team will be free to contact the player and sign him if he wants to play with that team.
Also please note:
- It is illegal for teams to scout other leagues protected areas
- Players under 17 cannot be signed to other leagues
- Over-agers (20 year old players) are free-agents for the entire CHL

I updated my
original post with the newer suggestions as they haven't been maintained in copy in original post. Not sure I will update again, so instead I will post this list in the
official wish list thread at SI Games.
I noted that many of you are posting bugs rather than wish list items, why not just post them at developers forum instead?

Not sure where this belongs since it's not a bug and it's not sim related but the goalie history still lists ties and I assume the OTL's are being counted there.

And why wouldn't that be a bug then? Post it at SI so they can investigate.

Good players should be asking for longer contracts. Also how much they make/ask for should have a lot to do with their performance especially if they are in their prime. I see too many players have great seasons where they score something like 40 goals then only ask for a 2 year contact extension worth 2-3 million dollars. These type of players should be asking for long term contacts at 5+ million dollars. The game gets too easy when players don't accurately know what their market value is and they sign short term low paying contracts. You run into major cap issues and can stack your team a lot easier.

The CHL and UHL no longer exist.
The UHL became the IHL 2.0 and was then absorbed by the CHL a good 4 or 5 years ago. And just this season, the ECHL absorbed the remaining stable CHL teams after CHL teams like Colorado, Fort Wayne, and Evansville had independently bolted for the ECHL and Oklahoma City had gone AHL a few years ago.
The semi-pro/really-low-A FHL (Federal Hockey League) also is in dire straits, facing serious lawsuits IIRC, and may not return next season.
In the U.S. at least... it's now just NHL, AHL, ECHL, SPHL, and that's it for pro minor anymore.

Really sucks about the FHL considering they were going to have team just across the border, from where I am right now in Sarnia, in Port Huron Michigan to start the 2015/16 season. Hopefully the rumours are true and they can come back under a different name. We need more semi-pro leagues.

The problem is FHL bills itself as "A", but SPHL teams would absolutely destroy the FHL teams if they played head to head. SPHL teams move guys up to the ECHL and beyond -- Scott Darling tended goal for 2 season in the SPHL and the league has improved since then. There is no upwards mobility really in the FHL, it's where the guys go that can't make it anywhere else. The FHL reminds me of the AAHL that we had around here some years ago with teams in Battle Creek (and where the Evansville Icemen got their start).
I am doubtful about any kind of pro team at McMorran now in Port Huron. The support isn't there like there used to be. I also see no future for the OHL team moving from Plymouth to Flint. Flint is a terrible market right now.
Someone does need to find a level that can support Dayton, Flint, Port Huron, Johnstown, etc. I don't know what that level is anymore though. It does make EHM in North America seem... lacking, considering it's now missing the UHL/IHL and CHL in the lower levels. It could soon be Elmira, Wheeling, and Kalamazoo joining them.
This is one of the big reasons I want to be able to create leagues, even in just a pre-game editor.

I thought it would be neat that if you have a scout follow a specific prospect, in addition to getting the prospect's current ability ratings, you can also track the prospect's change in abilities from the time he was first scouted. Maybe as part of the "compare players" section you can compare a player to himself the last time he was scouted?
