I've seen such boosts on rare occasions in previous testing (always with teens, usually younger teens, never in older players)

Not sure if this is the best place to ask this. Sorry if there is better location but I couldn't find anything.

Is there a consensus opinion on young prospect developing over season in Swedish or Finnish leagues? Bring them over or leave them alone?

Hey guys, I hope this is the right place to ask this: Is Auston Matthews good enough to be played in his first season(16/17)? And if so, does playing him on the 4th line degrade his potential and growing?

I won't call myself an expert or anything but in my sim (granted I'm in the 2070s at this point...) but he is playable his first season although he may struggle a bit. Don't give him just 4th line time or he may stagnate, I usually gave him 2nd line ES/PP time and sent him down to the AHL for 20ish games

I was lucky enough to get Poolparty in my first season and I stuck him straight in there - played him sometimes on the 4th, sometimes on the 2nd, fair bit of 2nd line power play time - and that seemed to go okay with him, so I'd imagine that would do okay with Matthews as well.

Anyone ever draft Luke Green?

I took him 40th overall (after taking Sean Day 11th overall) And he's developed into a great top 2 Dman alongside Karlsson, I even traded Sean Day and kept him when the depth chart got too crowded.

Has anyone also experienced McDavid bust?

I have a "McDavid bust" in my Toni Sainio -story.

Hey not sure if this is the right thread but I have not been able to find it elsewhere, is there a list of the attributes that don't change ever? I know all the visible attributes except Aggression and Flair can change and I know some hidden stats like Consistency cannot but is there a full list?

You should be able to find them somewhere in nino's research threads http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 10&t=14804

So I was wondering whether it is literally a useless gambit to scout anything other than the main nations/leagues when you're GMing an NHL team.

Has anyone ever scouted/drafted/undraft-signed a top 6 (newgen) prospect from a small nation like say Africa, South America, Asia, Oceania? I know the odds (as small as they might be) are always there that a non-hockey country can produce a super talent, but I wonder if anyone has ever been as lucky as to find such a player and get them into the NHL. And whether or not they were rated highly in the drafts or not, since if they're a top 100 rated player, then there's still no point in scouting those minor regions/nations since he'll pop up on the radar come draft anyways.

Just wondering, what do you base this on?

Those places you listed aren't "small" nor are they nations (3 of the 4 are continents! full of nations); for me completely non-hockey countries producing elite talent is not realistic

Well ultimately the game is still a game. So every nation would technically be able to generate an Anze Kopitar like prospect, despite said nation having little to no history with the sport, and being effectively a fringe nation at best.
What I pondered in my previous post was, has anyone playing this game (or even EHM05/07) ever encountered such a talent, a generated player from a nation that isn't a hockey nation, whether that's Australia or Iraq, or anywhere in between.

The reason i'm asking is simple, the game allows you to scout nearly every region in the world beyond Africa and South America. Of course, due to how the database is set up, regions like Oceania and Asia should not produce any level of talent, let alone NHL level talent. But again, it's still a game based on logical processes and a good dose of randomness when generating. So in theory it should mean that such nations (for example, New Zealand) could generate a talent of NHL/SHL calibre once every blue moon.

And that returns me to the question asked, has anyone ever come across a talented kid from a fringe nation?

I did extensive regen testing back in July http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 10&t=16787
If you added as many players as possible during the startup process, there were definitely some "fringe nations" that produced players above a 100 CA/PA (like Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa and Spain) but no elite players were produced

Do you guys use positional re-training? It never seemed like a good idea to me but now I'm stuck with a ton of very young RWs and very few LWs in the AHL and I put some of them on positional training. So my question is: Who long does it usually take and if a player complains, should I take him off the positional training since it is pointless or should I power through?

And yeah @some of the people above, I also drafted Green in the 2nd round of my first draft and he has developed amazingly, just won ROTY for me after I put him on my first line right out of juniors.

I always use it on every player (except for the one who get fed up with it), just to be more flexible.

Tested development of my top junior players in three scenarious:
1. Kept in main team, one was playing 4th line minutes, others basically warming bench;
2. Sent them to the junior league;
3. Sent them to the farm team.

First results show that scenarios 2 and 3 slow down attribute development of junior players by as much as 40-60%!
I guess main factor here is bad quality of coaches in junior ar farm teams. There is some positive influence from getting play time in first scenario so this factor still improves development but testing shows it' s minor compared to the quality of coaches.

2017 NHL Draft in EHM

Can anyone please post a screenshot of (or write down) the top prospects for the 2017 NHL Draft in the most recent version of the game?

I'm currently creating a facepack including some of the top 2017 eligible prospects, but I'm still playing with the roster version 7.4, so the draft rankings may have changed by now.

Thanks.

Weird that Ty Ronning was eligable since he was drafted by NYR in the 7th round 2016 :s

I'm very impressed with the work though honestly, most of the highly rates kids went early. 3 guys did stand out to me though in Kostin (top 10 talent), Yamamoto (i'd be SHOCKED if he doesn't go in the 1st round) and Tippett (very likely 1st rounder).

Edit: Actually found one more 'omission' (might just have a bad roll on that save) in Eeli Tolvanen, he's ranked in the top 10 pretty much everywhere right now.
Should check out how Casey Mittelstadt and Miro Heiskanen are rated aswell, but enough nitpicking now :)

I was curious (of course! HaHa) so I checked...Kostin, Yamamota, Tippett, Tolvanen, Mittelstadt and Heiskanen are all -14 (90-160 PA)

The quality of the work's not surprising to me; Manimal and CJ (and Alessandro, Named and a few others) really do spectacular work

I'm not that happy with it as I noticed directly that Eeli Tolvanen is missing from that Top 84 list. Will probably be a Top 10 pick.

No need to thank me as I haven't touched these youngsters since 1 year back.

Yeah also Jake Oettinger missing from there... He's the #1 goalie this year yet he's barely a 7th rounder in the game. He's also on the wrong team in game, he's in BU not USNTDP

Oettinger's a -14 too (and one of four "2017 Top Prospect" goaltenders listed on Elite Prospects.....Elite Prospects and the NHL don't yet have rankings listed though)

I don't think there's an NCAA researcher so that's likely why he didn't get moved to BU, and likely why his starting CA is actually pretty low (North American corrections should be posted in the correct thread here http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... .php?f=139)

For all looking at the screenshots I provided, they are from a single test game, so not every possible prospect is going to "roll" a high PA (or perhaps they may, but may get drafted lower because they were injured or performed poorly in 2016-17)

Thanks, looking better than in the old version I have.

So the new pack will definitely include some top prospects from the game.
