WooHoo!

Is Foreigners definable?
i.e. "Max. Foreign Players On Roster/Dressed" - how is Foreigner defined?
Is there any control over which countries are "Foreign"?
I'm of course thinking about keeping Russians in Russia in the 1974 database, while allowing for some Swedes/Finns to come to NA and the NHL (detailed Foreigner defineability may also be useful/applicable with the modern KHL)Image

Wow! Fantastic!

"Foreigner" isn't definable. However, I believe there is a similar setting (not yet shown on the screenshot) which takes into account the former soviet states or thereabouts.

Is dual citizenship part of FHM?
With the 1974 database maybe while in the 70s-80s I could have a "0 Foreigners NHL" but have some dual citizenship Swedes/Finns/etc with declared home citizenship + Canada or US citizenship so they could come to the NHL? Then change to unlimited Foreigners in 1989

AND - with the EHM game starting at Bantam, I added PeeWee/Atom/Novice/Tyke/Mite Leagues for players age 1-13…will I be able to create all the “kids leagues” in FHM like I have with the EHM version of the 1974 database? If yes, will FHM be able to handle player development from such young starting ages?

Is there any way of importing Draft Classes at the youngest applicable age in FHM?
Or (assuming I can have the kids leagues in FHM) when play with the 1974 database reaches about 1990 in-game would I be looking at overwriting the fake players the game creates with the IRL (born after 1974) players?

Thanks! :-)
Very excited! :joy:

Can Toronto win, unchecked. I absolutely love this. Even more proof they listen. LOL. Too bad its not the real button. Bummer. NHL/AHL relegation? WHL/BCHL relegation? Relegation anywhere? Too freaking awesome. I would love to be able to take a naff AHL or ECHL team and have them work their way into the NHL and then win the freaking Stanley Cup with them. Too amazing stuff.

I hesitated a bit when answering some of these questions. I don't want to give any info away that hasn't been announced publicly by the OOTP guys or via screenshots. However, I think the basic relevant info has been made public before (buried amongst the millions of posts on the OOTP Forum) - but I've kept my answers brief just in case. :-)

Yes, you can add dual nationalities.

You can certainly create as many leagues as you want and you can set minimum and maximum age limits. I don't know what player development has been tested by the devs. However those ages are below the scope of the ages of the players in the playable leagues we are testing.

I'm not sure I'm afraid. I'm guessing you could add players so they'd appear as UFAs or in the minor leagues reserve list - but that is purely a guess. Your best bet is to ask JeffR in this thread: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/f ... lay-4.html

I'm afraid promotion/relegation is unlikely to be possible for leagues with conferences/divisions. :-( It's just those leagues that are undivided (i.e. those that don't have conferences and divisions - such as the Eliterserien, etc).

AH, so I would have to undivide the NHL and do things that way? Cool. Should be easy to do when I rename all the teams anyway. Cause you know I cannot wait to do that. Yeah right.

Its not that hard to impliment

just have the teams switch divisions

in later builds it could be possible to add a re-alignment function that would re-align the league with current division structure but placing near and rival teams together in the same division

It's easy to rename them all the St. Louis Blues. Problably will not take that much time.

Something I would love to see is being able to save multiple games during a season, much like you can in EHM. I tend to save my games about once a month throughout a season so in case something happens to the files I can go back and reload a previous save. I bring this up because in the OOTP games (Out of the Park Baseball) you cannot save in that manner, it only saves over previous saves which is quite annoying. If something corrupts the current game you have to start from scratch again. Of course, there may be a way around that in OOTP but I haven't found it.

I just hope FHM has a save system more similar to EHM and not like OOTP. :-k

hmm, I guess you could backup your save game file into a separate folder every month. Although an in game feature would come in handy

I'm wondering if draft rights to player are customizable. I want to change that nhl teams don't lose european players rights unless released but keep college and major junior the same.

Also i really hope that the age of UFA can be changed.

I will be keeping my fingers crossed on these two things

No news on the release date. The late December / early January date is no longer going to be the case. OOTP recently said that they would make an important announcement about the timetable very soon.

It seems likely they go the "minecraft route" at this point of releasing a paid beta that grants access to the full version. It would bring in some cash while they are working on the game and give them more flexibility in regards to a final release date.

Like archi mentioned in the other thread, i don't think it could happen with new game like this. Some major glitches would turn people off entirely and could end up hurting the game in the end.

Given the fact that they have said we will get to play "sooner than later" in a recent update, I would say it is the most likely scenario.

No way no how public beta on a large scale. Too many issue with 12 year olds getting mommy to buy it. They do not understand the word BETA, and will just be mad that their favorite players and teams are not superpowered. And others will continually whine about no Finish 2nd league (never mind the first not being there as playable) and why they cannot trade for Crosby with four Leaf 8th round picks.

And they will just cause the developers to waste time wading through a ton of useless posts and useless information. At the most a 2nd released beta is what they need.

ALthough if they do a public beta I will definitely buy it....and contribute. I believe it would be a mistake. Too much bad stuff can come from public beta for a new game in a niche market like this. Too risky IMHO. But as everyone would say..their call.

Actually, I thought it could likely happen (see my post below from earlier this month). :-)

Btw, are you still visiting the official forums much any more? I know you are/were quite active there. I'm totally avoiding it now - it's just constant "are we there yet" type questions.

archibalduk wrote:
drewst18 wrote:I don't know if it will make sense to do a free pre-release if that is what you are getting at.
No I meant you pay full price. Just a wild guess and, to be honest, I hope I'm wrong. I don't think a public beta would be of any benefit at all. You'd have some people whining that the game is too incomplete to be playable and others posting hundreds of unrealistic/elaborate feature requests. How would the devs filter through things - bearing in mind they have no time to check the forums...

A public release candidate, on the other hand, would be more suitable (just like SI did with EHM back in the day and with FM 2013). It'd be a lot closer to final polished version and there should, theoretically, be fewer bugs to find.

That said, the above is all very presumptuous. If the next announcement isn't an early public beta then what I say is entirely irrelevant! :D But each time I read Sebastian's post, it seems like the only thing that fits in with what he's saying:
We will make an announcement about FHM soon (actually, a few more). We changed our plans a bit...

Everyone will have a chance to play the game rather sooner then later.
