What do you mean by "downgrading"?
I just took a look at the NHL before/after the recent update...
Average NHL CA before was 131, average NHL CA after is 132
There were 30 NHLers with a CA 180-200 before, and now there are 23 NHLers with a CA 180-200
There was 66 NHLers with a CA 160-179 before, and now there are 67 NHLers with a CA 160-179
There was 170 NHLers with a CA 140-159 before, and now there are 185 NHLers with a CA 140-159
I actually expected to see results that showed greater variance/change...but it doesn't seem that different to me
For example many backup goalies have pretty much all of their attributes under 10. And the impression that I got during my first season was that many 5th to 7th choice defencemen and lower line forwards had quite low ratings too.

If you wanted such a list you can get one in seconds using the EHM Updater (it'll produce a list of all players and their CA/PA, all Attributes and more)
Obviously yes. But that isn't even remotely what I was talking about. However if you want to base research on the already done EHM roster than I don't think it'll be improved much

Perhaps it was because I forgot to quote the post, but I was replying to the conversation about having a sub forum designated for roster discussion, as to where we base each player, with strengths and weaknesses.
I said I could manage a few teams 50man rosters, with researched CA and PA, some strengths and weaknesses.
I thought we were talking about updating the roster further, but perhaps not.

"Wouldnt it be good to make a forum with threads of every NHL-team with a CA/PA list of the lineup and prospects and the three best/worst attributes on each player and then users can comment on the lists. I know the FM-community have the same thing for the official updates done at fmsweden."
"I like the idea, but wouldn't doing so take someone a lot of work just to set up? (especially determining the three best/worst attributes on each player).
My understanding is the problem for a few years now has been lack of researchers (and lack of time for the few researchers there are).
IMO with the EHM Updater able to export a list of all players and their CA/PA and Attributes (exported_attributes file), I think it's pretty easy to submit feedback/suggestions for those inclined to do so"
"I could do a pretty extensive list of NHL teams and there CA/PA's along with notable attributes"
Maybe I misread something, so my apologies if I sounded snarky, just off work!

Manimal wrote:If you guys want to use the EHM Updater then what we want is an attribute_update file containing the changes so we can see what you've done
I was simply suggesting using the EHM Updater and the attribute_update file

I didn't know if you were aware of it, and IMO it's incredibly helpful for both the one suggesting the changes/edits and for the one actually making the changes to the database

Tyees, we will most likely take you up for that offer. I just need to hear back from Archi on a matter regarding this.

Without knowing their CA/PA and Avg attributes i guess that Talbot, Grubauer, Stalock, Budaj, Andersen and McElhinney needs boosts.

Was anything done to the NHL awards (is that even possible?) ? Selke was just given to some random guy from the Pens who played 9 games during the season, and the runner up was another nobody with 11 GP. No-one in third place. Never seen this happen.
Edit: a few more minor things I've noticed: Nathan MacKinnon's determination is 3, which seems really low. Especially if it affects his development. Saku Koivu and Teemu Selänne are marked as retired from national team duty, but IRL they'll most likely go to Sochi. Cal O'Reilly is missing Ryan O'Reilly from his favorite people.

I've seen that award thing happen many times. I once saw a goalie of the month who had played all of eight minutes! Made me laugh
MacKinnon's staff attributes(among them determination) were set at random. Will be changed in the future. I don't think anyone has looked at national team retirements in a long time

Kimmo Timonen and Olli Jokinen are possible candidates IRL too, but in the rosters they are retired.

nino33 wrote:Jonesy2042 wrote:Your missing the Vancouver Giants of the WHL
They're not missing, they're in the BCHL.
The number of teams in a playable League in EHM is hardcoded. In 2006 there were 21 teams in the WHL, and now there are 22 (and because things are hardcoded there is no way to increase the number of teams in the WHL).....as the Giants were the worst team in the WHL last year IRL, they are "demoted" to the BCHL
Jonesy2042 wrote:Edited: there is also the problem with the colleges because they are apart of hockey east in the NCAA not the uhl
This was done on purpose; the UHL doesn't exist any more (folded in 2010), and moving the Hockey East into the UHL allows these 10 College teams to be playable!
Ok, but wasn't last years whl teams at 22 not 21 but i guess if they were better then they were then they wouldn't have got demoted LOL haha
Oh ok I have always wondered what it would be like to gm a college team and you should try and do that with all the college teams and make them playable!

I've read that the pre-game editor cannot currently be used with the rosters, but how about the save game editor? And if yes, is it possible to edit players' attributes with it?

Yes and yes, but it isn't quite as simple as going 1-20.
The best thing you can do is keep the game open (windowed) and run the editor. Find the attribute and see where it corresponds in the SGE. Then apply it.

Here's a thread about how not all Attributes in the SavedGame Editor show as 1-20

One more thing I'd like to add for the TBL rosters is having newly drafted prospects not signed to contracts right away. Since they don't slide it burns off a year and counts towards the 50 Man limit.
Has led to Drouin, Patterson, Fucale off the top of my head being cut from their respective teams.

I've been thinking about this before but not lately. Always wanted to have a look at this but never got aroud to it.
It would also help if the prospects were rated better, but I never found the time

Can someone tell me how I can edit my own rosters on NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007. I know there are these rosters here, but I wanted to create my own rosters as everyone has a different opinion for each player and although I understand that a lot of work is put into these rosters, I just feel they were done poorly on this roster update, in my own opinion that is. I believe I only need to now what program you guys use to edit the player attributes. After I know that all I should have to do is open the player.dat file in the latest update with the program and edit stuff from there, correct? If that is not what I need to, and it is not to complicated to explain and accomplish could someone please tell me how to do it. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Does the game handle weight different with youngsters? I have noticed that prospects weights are usually way off but in the db their weight is listed correctly. Does the game view it as the weight they will grow into instead of their current rate?
