Wow I'm surprised Finland made it to the quarter finals. Thank you Switzerland for beating Latvia! :-D

Anyway they'll play against Kanada so might as well give up. Finland has never been this bad as long as I can remember. :-x
A team that usually takes home a medal is struggling like this isn't fun to watch... ](*,)

LOL Finland cannot beat a Team CAnada with Kevin Bieksa as it's captain? All you need is Jarkku RUUUUUUUUTUUUUUUUU and a bag of fish. Should not be a problem

Is, was and always will be a Tier 3 tournament. Whether you are Euro, American, Canadian or from Papua New Guinea or Brazil you have to see that it is not BEST on BEST and not even 2nd best on best. Because Bieksa on team canada B team....lol

You get no debate here. We agree it is not best-on-best. All the talk in the media here is, what NHLers might come? Up until all roster spots are set, then they start dreaming of gold. And the Finns start dreaming of beating us ;) It is more important to beat us then win gold

Well Sweden has to look out for themselves too because they're playing Belarus. ;) Even though Tommy Salo is retired you never know what might happen! 8-)

Tbh I think Finland's chances against Canada are about 10 % atm. Our only ways to win are to get early ahead somehow or play 0-0 and then Olli Jokinen scores one that redirects off of someone's face. Nevertheless Pekka Rinne cannot let any pucks through, our scoring (and even more defence) sucks so much. :-(

Canada lost to France, and beat Norway with a single goal, so don't give up just yet!

Tonight Sweden win 5-0 #pleasegod :notworthy:

I watched the game (FIN vs. CZE) and we won! :**
Pretty good game for FIN but it was weird that CZE couldn't produce more. :nerd: We were better all around..

Tomorrow the Final; Finland vs. Mother Russia.

You clearly didn't watch the Olympic Games. ;)

Finland and Sweden made a great achievement: three medals from every major international tournament this year. Finland already has one gold when Sweden has none though.

The referees are so horrible! Russia leads 3-2 thansk to them. ](*,)

The referees were horrible, but Russia was still better on the ice. Goal scoring ability-wise. Deserved win.

I just wonder how much did Russians pay to the referees for this game :censored:

And Tasku what you said about winning ability-wise Russians made 4 PP-goals and atleast 2 of those were questionable. Also how the Lindros can referees be so goddamn out they don't know when a penalty expires? There was a second difference between the penalties and still the refs let Russia go on powerplay

Re: The IIHF World Championships 2014

No, actually there wasn't. Mertaranta first thought he should've been off the bench, but later corrected, that there was one second left on the penalty, so the goal happened before the 5-3 player was on the ice. I also happened to be looking at the penalty clock at the time off the goal, and also saw that the goal happened right before the penalty had expired.

But you're right, had the referees not fudged it up, Russia may not have scored, and so forth. But they did. And once again Finland failed to score when we had good chances. Russia did not fail. They win.

An interesting fact is that Finland has only won gold when playing the Swedes in the final. And that not only goes with the Men's hockey team, but also in bandy and floorball.

Well in floorball it would be a miracle if Sweden didn't make it to the finals (not facing Finland before it). :P

Imho if we lose 5-2 we can't complain about the refs. Russia was better in the whole tournament eventually and deserved to win. It was a surprise all in all that we made it this far with this _bad_ team so props to Erkka Westerlund for that. And I think that losses in 2003 WC and 2006 OG hurt more than this (because of the expectations) and we'll get over this eventually.

Finland done crying about refereees? Refs have never ever cost a team a championship. Finns just did not have the resolve like Canadian Women do. sorry....lost because you lost not because of reffing. PK is part of game, even strength and getting PP part of game. If you don't get the pp...did not work hard enough. If you get too many PK and don't kill off did not work hard enough. If you don't score Even Strength enough...did not work hard enough.

No excuses--Yesterday Russia was just the better team. Finland was 2nd best and that is life.

Of course..this was a tier 3 torunament in Best on best Russia would have finished 7th or 8th and Finland 3 or 4.
