I'm having the same problem with the wrapper. Steam opens and works just fine however every time I attempt to start the game it fails and simply says that the game is already running. Only there is no open window with the game however Time played is going upwards. Might be running in the background?

The non-appearing game seems to be affecting a few people. This custom wrapper seems to fix the problem, so if anyone is having this issue, please give it a try:

Trying it out. I just got my macbook pro (15" retina) and the link in the OP didn't work for me. I had the same problem as the guys above with Steam working but the game not starting up (even though it was "started").

Edit - The new version works, thanks so much!

I think I'm probably going to make the virtual desktop version of the wrapper the permanent one as many newer Macs seem to have issues with the old one. It's not as elegant-looking, but it works. :)

Can anyone forward me towards how to get the pregame editor running on ehmea? I'm running through Crossover. Attempted doing run installed software -> run pregame editor -> change database, but it won't let me open up any files to load up my TBL rosters.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Should it be updating Steam everytime I run the wrapper? Also, is it me or doesnt it save the settings (such as currency?)

So I cannot get the full screen of the game running for wine. I always get a message saying it is unable to initialize the graphics and that I need a desktop larger 1024*768. Anyone else have this problem?

I'll take a look at these last two issues tonight.

I think I may already have a fix for the config saving issue, I just need to test a terminal command on another machine to be sure.

What the specs of your machine? I can't recreate it, but I might be able to simulate it in a virtual machine and try and find a fix.

EDIT: I have uploaded a second version with a different, newer engine which is supposed to have better CPU detection for modern machines. If you can, please give it a try and let me know if you still get the CPU error.

It's currently not in the plans. But there are a few ways you can play this on a mac.

To name two:
-Bootcamp?
-VMware Fusion or Parallel Desktop?

I have no clue, check on the http://community.sigames.com/ forum to be sure.
But I can't see why it wouldn't not work, if you are running a version of windows with your parallel or vmware fusion, obviously...

A huge thank you for enabling me to play EHM on my Mac. I'd been reduced to digging out my old Macbook from years ago, on which I had a Windows partition (partly so I could play 07, as well as the older CM games) but having two Macs running was a nuisance, especially as I only had the one charger. Just wondering, though, if there is any reason why the preferences keep defaulting? It's a very (very!) minor inconvenience to have to set them before I play the game, and ultimately isn't going to stop me from playing it, but if there was a way to get them to save, that'd be even better!

I had EHM: EA running on my Macbook using Parallel. Hadn't played it in a few days but when I tried running it tonight I keep getting Direct X error saying "unable to initialize sound, please ensure DirectX has been installed correctly." Any ideas?

After the last update I also received that message when I tried to start the game. For me the problem was solved as I recognized that my screen resolution had changed and changed it back to my normal resolution.

Maybe that's the same for You?!

Sorry for the delay in replying, work took over for the past couple of weeks. However, here is the fix to the config saving issue.

Note: This assumes you have my wrapper named "Eastside Hockey Manager" and placed in your Applications folder. If the file is located anywhere but there, it will not work.

First, load Terminal in OSX. The easiest way to do so is by hitting Command-Spacebar and typing "Terminal" (without the quotes). You can also go to it by opening Finder, select the "Go" menu, click on "Utilities" and then double-click on "Terminal".

Carefully copy and paste the following commands, one-by-one. Do not try to combine them and do not skip a step.

1. First, switch to the directory causing the issue by pasting the following command:

Code: Select all

cd /Applications/Eastside\ Hockey\ Manager.app/Contents/Resources/drive_c/users/Wineskin/My\ Documents/Sports\ Interactive/EHM/C\:/users/crossover/Application\ Data
2. Next, remove the bad directory and it's sub directories:

Code: Select all

rm -r "Sports Interactive"
3. Now, create a new symbolic link to make the game write the config files to the proper folders:

Code: Select all

ln -s /Applications/Eastside\ Hockey\ Manager.app/Contents/Resources/drive_c/users/Wineskin/Application\ Data/Sports\ Interactive "Sports Interactive"
After you complete step three, load the game and change the settings (say, UK currency to US currency). Quit the game, reload, and verify your settings persisted.

To Pete Stanley

Do you mean the screen resolution in EHM? Parallel? or Steam?

How do I fix that issue?
