I downloaded latest version of xECK29x's rosters a couple of days ago and decided to add latest signings and extensions.
but for some unknown reason any (even the slightest) change made to .cfg file results in total inability to start a new game.
so I started to delete different blocks from extra_config (injuries, extensions etc.) and it appeared to be "future_transfer" that causes a crash.
if all "future_transfer" are removed then I can start a new game, but if try to put any of FTs back it crashes again. (.cfg can digest approx 10 FTs)

is there any way to fix this?

btw contract_extension only kicks in if player in question is with the main club. so Ville Husso and Niko Mikkola (both AHLs San Antinio) need to be fixed in DB. and Jack Campbell is now in TOR

It's an issue with the code of the game itself, Riz has identified fixes to make it more stable but we believe it's related to the game being designed for a 30 team NHL, as the extra_config has a really hard time with any Vegas Golden Knight entries specifically. We know it works...eventually, you just have to painfully attempt multiple times to set things up. We have tried picking apart the extra_config line by line to identify an issue and it appears to be different each time with no rhyme or reason as the formatting is proper.

Honestly, until 1.5 comes out I don't think I'm going to be pushing any more updates as the game just can't seem to support what I need at this stage.

This will typically have to do with what leagues (and how many) you selected when you started up the sim.

Whilst the 24 January crash might be caused by another issue, running all leagues will cause an in-game crash at some point during the first season. This is because the game has a limit as to the number of transfer/trade windows which it can process - this should be fixed for patch v1.5 however. But in the meantime, it is inadvisable to run all leagues as it is certain to lead to a crash.

Thanks Archi! My old computer was very slowly dying, and overheating. Got a new computer so started playing again. It's definitely helps while working form home for the next few weeks.

I've started a new game with just the NA leagues so hopefully this one keeps going. BTW love the new feature to be able to download and install the rosters and logo right through the game.

I kept running into a crash at start-up and was able to get past it now after choosing only the North American leagues as playable. However, I like to begin unemployed and work my way up, so I'd prefer to have every league as an option because part of the fun for me back in the day was landing jobs in obscure leagues around the world, so I'm wondering if when I start the game if I have only one league selected as "enhanced" and the rest all "view only," would that make the game stable enough to run with all leagues being potentially playable? Or is that still too much data?

You should be good if you were selecting all (or most) leagues.

Oh wow looks like it can actually handle a lot more than I thought. Do you think if I had every league chosen but kept them all on "view only" except for whichever league I happen to be currently playing, that would work too? Or does choosing view only rather than enhanced not make enough of a difference for every league to be chosen?

Even if you load a league on "View Only" it still loads the transfer rules, which is the table which has a hard limit coded.

I had a game I was playing for a long time. Unaware of any patches or anything since I completed the prior season. However the game got stuck at the processing, please wait step on 4/30/34. I am unaware what version of TBL this game was but it was a 2017-18 start.

I made a new game using TBL 10.3 with just the NHL enabled. Same thing happened but on 4/30/18.

I tried going on vacation in both to get past 4/30 without luck. It doesn't crash it just won't progress past that day.

Any suggestions? Thanks

Sadly there's probably not a lot we can suggest. You could try deleting the extra_config and records_config .cfg files which accompany the database. Alternatively, you may find the v12 Rosters or Pivot Rosters more reliable.

I just got to try it now. That let me move past 4/30 in my current save.

The v12 rosters crash on startup. I try loading the game with just the NHL, normal size dB, etc and it just goes to desktop. Would that be fixed by removing the cfg files as well?

It's worth a try. The difficulty is that the crash seems to be random and apparently affects only a minority of users. There should be some improvements to stability coming with the next EHM patch (no ETA sadly) but in the meantime, all I can suggest is to try deleting the .cfg files or alternatively following xECK29x's advice:

- Crashing at 'Initalizing Game Data - this is a new one that has started to crop up in testing, first try just re-downloading the DB by unsubscribing/resubscribing, if it keeps happening try restarting your computer (seriously).

I'm able to play now and that's all that really matters! Thank you!

I've tried both the latest Pivot and TBL rosters now and both crashes on 24th January 2020 every time. Any updates on that? Like what leagues not to select?

Can you provide a screen shot of what leagues you are selecting? This is almost certainly to be a crash related to selecting too many leagues on View Only or Enhanced.

I wasn’t sure where to put this, I recently bought a new laptop and downloaded EHM. Every time I try to start a new game, it crashes when it gets to “Creating shortcuts”. I’ve deleted all of the folders other than the database folder. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the game numerous times, tried starting on different dates, limited active leagues and nothing seems to work. Any help would be awesome, thanks!

You're talking about the new EHM available via Steam, right?
You just clicked the "Install" button to download EHM & then used the Steam Workshop and clicked "Subscribe" to a database...and when you then try to start a game it's not working? This method usually works (and doesn't involve the deleting of any folders).

If this is what you've done thus far...you could try moving the subscribed database (found at Steam->steamapps->workshop->content) to the main EHM folder (Steam->steamapps->common->Eastside Hockey Manager->data->database) & then try starting a new game


What particular database are you using? Have you made any edits at all?

I’m using TBL v12.4.3
I haven’t done any edits or anything. Nothing seems to be working.

Sometimes it takes 2-3 times to go through, try changing the leagues you are selecting (see the warnings about selecting too many leagues), also try a reboot. If you aren't playing an NHL focused season you could remove the extra_config.cfg file, it just adds injuries, draft pick changes for the NHL and CHL clubs and NCAA future transfers.

These crashes have been fixed in the upcoming 1.5 patch for the game.

I am experiencing a continued crash on the same date in my game. It's likely my fault for having too many active leagues. I hope someone can help!

Database name and version number: TBL Rosters 2019-20 (v12.4.3)
In-game date of crash: Friday, January 24, 2020 --> I see a few others have had issues with this date as well...
Any error message displayed: none
