Oh well! I was hoping the latest build of the editor might've had that fix already in it.

Both Graeme's posts are March 13. New version of editor came out Mar 11. Not sure if Graeme had advised mne2 prior to that, or if it is even an issue for Devils88's project. Just asking, and letting him know about what Graeme said in case it was missed.

Definitely a good thing you did mention it! I'd hate to see D88 put all the work into the DB for it to be no good.

As I understand Greame, the bug will fix itself by opening the database with the editor (when the editor is fixed) and then saving the database again. So any changes made now should not be lost.

Yes that is the case. Thankfully, so Devils should not lose any info when/if the editor is repaired. It was more just a warning about the fact that the editor may not function properly right now, based on Graeme having discovered issues with the info the editor is based on. Not Neil's (mne2's) fault clearly. And since we do not know when/if it will be repaired I thought someone should post and let Devils and the admin here know something may be coming down the pipe.
I know Neil updates the editor, when there are discovered issues, but it was more in terms of the question about WHEN TBL DB will be done, and urging the patience, so it gets done without issues.

The current version of the editor does NOT have the bug fixes described on the SI Boards. No release date for an updated version yet sorry.

I can't wait!!! I was checking the downloads section for the unfaked DB for 2007...didn't find one obviously. I am totally excited for this project!!! Thanks Devil-man for your diligence & to the rest of TBL crew who work hard for the passion of EHM hockey!!

Thanks for the info. i will continue the project, as you said it's possible to keep the changes we have done.

Are you interested in some prospects that are highly ranked for the OHL & QMJHL draft 2007 (1991 born). I can give you basic info like name, dob, Height, weight, position and team and if you want scouting reports for attributes. I can also give info on some 1992 borns that are highly touted for the moment. A lot of these prospects isn´t in the game what I can see.

I haven't been around in a good long while, and it's great to see that awesome things are still being done. Kudos.

I am very happy about this news, i've been having problems with the eastside-uk unfaking database ever since i got a new computer. Any ideas on like a ballpark figure when we can expect this project ?

i'm sorry but i can't set a specific timeframe on the project now. first it was planned as ncaa db but it's getting much bigger now, with updated histories, stadiums, maybe some other leagues.
the first post in this thread will be updated regulary to show the community whats included by now, and what i'm been working on at the moment.
not the answer you wanted, i know, but i tell you i will work as quick and accurate as i can.

Take your time D88.
It would be better to have a complete unfaking database than a rushed typo filled database.

Hi Hawerchuk.
Would be wonderful if we could make the game as realistic as we can.
But for this version of the TBL:DB the priority is not to change (add) any attributes. Although i will ask TBL's wise men's. I will send you a private Message when we decided.
BTW: I've seen Dale Hawerchuk live, playing in the World Championships 1987 in Vienna for Team Canada. I remember he was popular these days here in Vienna cause the announcer coudn't speak his name right. also toni tanti's....that was awesome funny

i dont want to be annoying.. but for this project to be ready.. are we talking about days.. weeks or mounths?
Do we will have to start a new game to use this db? if not.. and if im using the other eastside uk db.. can i change it in the middle of the game?
I dont want to start a new game for nothing since i'll have to restart due to the fact we have the new patch now..

Jackknife--
Not sure..Devils will get it done as fast as he can. He is good, and accurate.
For a new database you have to start a new game. Sorry, but that is the way it is. Cannot change in the middle of the game, but you can have 3 different databases. With the new patch it even tells you where to save them.

D88, is there anything that you need specifically researched? I always have more free time than I need and would like to contribute in some way other than churning out cut logos. I don't have the game right now (my 6 month window ran out a few days ago) but I can surf the Internet with the best of them...

archibalduk wrote:What is wrong with SI's attributes? They have many researchers all over the world that have been to games involving the teams; thus you'd have thought their attributes would be perfectly accurate and if anyone is to do any attribute tweaking then it ought to be them.
The only problem with the SI 'vanilla' DB is its current condition. There is a clear lack of research in many areas, which in some cases is really visible. I'm not saying that the official research is bad, because on the whole it is accurate. In many cases a player can do miracles in a new environment when compared to the previous season, which makes it really hard to do a database that will simulate the hockey world almost as in real life, in fact it is almost impossible.
I was involved in Finnish, Russian, Norwegian and Swedish research in varying degrees and I have to say that some areas are not properly researched. Norway is a real mess, Finland lacks junior research alltogether and pro league ratings tend to favour certain teams due to lack of research of other teams. Switzerland is another good example of the lack of research (though I understand that nobody wanted to do it because it never got in the game licensed).
To make some good points I must point out goaltender styles that in most cases have not been implented even for NHL goaltenders. How many games you have to see to figure that Hasek's style is rather unorthodox or that Sean Burke is a standup goalie? And yes, the preset styles affect the gameplay.
I understand that it is good to have an unaltered and unfaked 'vanilla' DB. However, I support editing player attributes, because there will most likely never be another SI official database, so why not make the game the best we can and as realistic as possible? I was really bummed that there will not be another edition of EHM as I had so many things to contribute to the research.
To say something regarding to the topic, I think it's good to see someone pour their free time to EHM in one way or another, it's getting quite rare. The process of 'unfaking' takes really much time and effort so thumbs up to anyone who does it.

I can see TWolf's point a little. I know there are a lot of prospects the game that in the current database will never even come close to being NHL players, even though in the real world they're already better than they are in the game. Look at a player like Milan Lucic. He's total rubbish in the game. Utterly useless. This season he has really turned it on and he's shaping up to be a heck of a prospect. If they were still developing EHM, I bet he'd be a lot better in the next version. If we're going to keep playing the game year after year, I can see a serious need for database updates.

I didn't realize stuff like this was being developed here until now. Thanks to everyone involved. I've never played EHM as anything other than an NHL GM, but just the other day I was wondering what it would be like to lead my local team (especially since in real life, it looks like they're headed for a rebuilding phase of indeterminate length). However, as strange as it sounds, GMing something called 'Turku T' is a lot less gratifying than leading TPS (or TPS Turku) into glory.

UPDATE: Just to keep you informed.
we will wait for the new version of the editor (there's a problem with the saving of player rights) before we release the TBL:DB. i'm sorry but it may take a little while. although i'm going on, changing the data in the current editor version. (we can "convert" it for the new editor version)
i'm updating the first post in this thread regulary to keep you informed what has been done so far.
thanks for the patience...
greets D88

I HATE THE UHL
this was the biggest obstacle so far.
these league cost me nearly 3 weeks of time and plenty of nerves.
not only the names are faked also the histories are. (team playing for and nr. of games) so it was very hard to find the right players for their faked clones. also the 2005/06 rosters were not up to date, so i moved much players to their right teams (note: start 2005/06 season rosters).
but now it's done (all but 12 players where i really couldn't find their real names) and i can see light at the end of the tunnel. next will be the swiss leagues and the finnish mestis league. then i've completed all leagues with faked player names.
