Look at the date and under "View." :-p
Duh! How did I not see that?

Anybody else getting better results out of Mason than Backstrom so far?

Ha yeah we had another game where it was like 8-1 or something and Selanne had 6 points.

So far both are really solid. Backstrom has already seen improvement in his attributes though and is putting up really nice numbers.

I'm guessing it's got to do with their expectations or the fan interest level. IIRC, the fan interest is low to start.
I got general indifference when I took over. I think it's because I'm Canadian and they like me just a little better than all you Yankees! :-D

Yes. After first 15 games a have these stats:
Mason: GAA 2.02, SV% 0.924, AvR 8.75
Backstrom: GAA 3.51 SV% 0.880 AvR 7.75
Looks like we set up really strong team. Toews is totally the best league rookie point scorer, while Selanne leads all players in points :joy:
I'm surprised that Steen holds 1 point per game standard. I use him both on PP and on PK, and we produces well.

So I officialy started off the challenge.

So far I came up to second pre-season exhibition. Won first one 6-0 against my lovely Blackhawks, although it didn't look well after first two periods as I was leading just 2-0. But then the players got unleashed I guess. Quest of finding the last top-6 winger will continue after I will come back from work. So far so good!

That's exactly what it is! I feel discriminated against!

Really? I've got him on my 4th line and PK, no PP. Are you putting him in the 2nd line instead of Gagner? What are your lines looking like?

I use these lines. Certainly, they're not optimal...

Steen has AvR 7.13, whis seems ok for me. Overall, I'm not that successull. My winning percentage is only around 0.600% :thdn:

My lines. Note that Smid is usually in AHL while Keith is on the 2nd pairing. Keith is currently injured.

Heres my goalie stats
Backstrom GAA 1.97 SV% .934 AVR 8.94
Mason GAA 3.00 SV% .914 AVR 8.33

My biggest problem is getting butts in the seats. You would think a team leading the league would have no problem with that, but we are.

You're tellin me man. I have like 14500 people coming to my games... 2nd in the conference and Selanne with 67 pts in 36 games...

McQwak, I'd send Ryan down he'll develop better in the AHL and it will allow you to be able to put a true grinder on your 4th line.

So did you send Gagner down to the AHL? I wasn't able to do that with having him clear waivers. Did you send him back to Juniors? I noticed that I still had the option for that. Maybe that would've been the smart idea?

I sent him down. Sent Latendresse and Ryan down to AHL. I think I loaned GL out so Ryan had more ice time...

I'm beginning to think I might have to do that too. I really think I might get better results with some of the muckers I've got down in the AHL. I just wonder if they'd have to clear waivers to get called up.

I'm games in right now with a record of 11-3-1 but I'm not really sure I like what I'm seeing so far.

Hey guys, gotta say I love this challenge idea. I've spent the last few days reading through the old discussion threads and I think I'm ready to join in.

If it's working for you, don't change it :-p

Bruins, you probably already know what I would do. I'd send the kids down and let them dominate the AHL for a year or 2 and bring in some of the older checkers to play 3rd and 4th. That being said, go with your gut on this one. Did Toews have a not so great camp for anyone else? I ended up with him behind Gagner and Steen and decided it was best to give him a year to sort things out and he's tearing up the WHL. He is improving fairly well down there too. He should be ready for the 2nd line center next year as Gagner has the first on lockdown.

Oh, Toews is definitely staying. He's earning his keep! He's been great on a line with Tkachuk and Doan. Gagner, Latendresse, and Ryan are another story all together.

Toews had over a PPG avg for me. Leads rookie scoring, 7.75 avg. I love it.
Gagner I sent back down. 90 pts in 35 games in the OHL :joy:

Wow, compared to other challenge players, I see that I have the lowest Team PIM and Times Shorthanded, and the highest PP Opportunity. I don't know why. :dunno:
Pitty that result of game is determined by goals, not by PP Opportunities :-D I have 11-7-2 record so far...
It leads me to the question: do we have all the same game schedule for 1st season? There could be chance that I have harder schedule than you, who have 16-4 records :-p

Yeah, I sent Gagner to juniors, too.
Toews is awesome. He leads the league ladders in almost every offensice aspect  I hope I will be able to retain his rights and sign him in future for long term deal.
