EHM The Blue Line

I've had Clendenning up on my Canucks roster since the start of the challenge. That was probably a mistake. I never gave Sanguinetti a shot and he didn't re-sign with us. He probably would've been better. McMillan was a fill in player for me during season 1. He didn't want to re-sign though.

Bonino has been a bit of a disappointment so far this season. He's got Jensen and Silfverberg on his wings and they're doing okay (not great). I'm not sure what his deal is. Maybe I need to bring Kreider back up to the 2nd line and put Jensen down to the 3rd?

It is funny he cannot make my team. In both pre seasons he scored 7 or 8 points in 7 or 8 games. But he just cannot push me to waive Sbisa. And then Sbisa decides to play well anyway (so far in year 2 so good with him 3-10-13 in 21 games)

My defense is solid right now.

Dillon-Trouba
Stanton-Tanev
Muller-Sbisa
Weber

All have done more than expected save Dillon. He is most disappointing but is still playing well. He is another Tanev who hits.

Weber and Sbisa have the best average ratings for my defensemen so far this season.

I decided between Sanguinetti and Clendenning at camp first season and chose Sanguinetti because he can skate, worked out great for me, he played really well while Clendenning has been an OK AHL D-man. I did trade Sanguinetti after season 2 though to make room for Lindgren, same type of players but Lindgren has the potential to be a stud.

How do you guys like my trades and draft?

That draft is looking very strong. I have a question though. Did you read this thread before drafting? It seems like you got all of the "hidden gems".

The trades look pretty good. You seemed to focus more on defense. That's something I wish I had done.

Yeah me thinks Loosie either used the EA assistant or followed the thread very closely.

as for the trades--good ones.

Devils are sitting 15th in the Eastern Conference in season 2. 54 games 20-28-6. But they're making a huge push.
First offer: Backes & 2018 3rd for Pavelski & 2019 3rd.
Second offer: Wedgewood, 2017 2nd, 2018 2nd, & 2017 3rd for Milan Lucic.
Third offer: Kostka, Frederik Beaudry & 2017 3rd for Dillon & 2017 3rd.

They also offered Zajac to the Jets for Enstrom.

They got Lucic and Enstrom already, so their lines:
Lucic/McDavid/Voracek
Lazarev/Backes/Helm
Kreider/Josefson/Stafford
Matteau/Beagle/Comeau

I have a feeling they could be climbing out of the cellar soon.

I did skim through the thread and saw that Lindgren was a stud... I literally think those were the exact words that someone used. I spent an hour going back and fourth looking through players in each round, because the suggestions the scouts were suggesting, just werent cutting it

Yeah the scouts for me had a huge hard on for the goalies in the 1st rounds, but I think they did offer Lindgren in the 4th round IIRC. I take their suggestions into account, but I'll spend a while looking for players I prefer lol

Vey sucks on the 4th line... Maybe he's good when you give him more ice-time and some PP-time but as a bottom-6 player without PP he sucks hard... Atleast for me...

Taking Kylington as #12 is peculiar, i assume you saw what he did for me?:)

He mainly plays third line for me now, and gets 2nd unit PP time. COuple times on 2nd line. Seriously, give him some time dudes...he is good.

No sir I did not. I just thought he was better our of Merkley and Marner (both were reccomended) . Thought a 6 ft, great skater, with decent attributes and good determination, would be a workhorse. 15 in speed, Agility, and Acceleration is pretty good my friend.

Too late, i released him to UFA just now I had no spot for him in PP either, not even close

watts555 - Fair enough, he's a stud for me so good choice I managed to get him at #20.

I wish I had spent so much time in drafting or had enough foresight to see who would develop good ... I traded nearly every player for picks and had two and a half horrible seasons, including the last 40 games where I had unbelievable bad luck as Demko AND Tretyak both suffered torn ACLs.

I cancelled the challenge as I had absolutely no chance to get anything to work, now I concentrate on learning tactics to be prepared for the upcoming challenges

Made another trade before going into season 3, sent Tömmernes and Kenins to Toronto for Mason McDonald who they had acquired just a few weeks earlier, i really needed a goalie for AHL and he seems to have some potential so i'm happy with it, also opened up some roster spots in Utica. I kind of liked Kenins though and he would have had a shot at making the big team next season but oh well, gotta give to get.

Well after 20 games into the 2nd season, we're still not a playoff team. We aren't last though! We're sitting at 11th in the conference and only 2 points separate us from 8th place.

Strangely, the Wild are sitting in last place! And they didn't trade away all of their veterans, like we had planned to do with them. The computer is setting their lines horribly! They traded Haula to Montreal for the rights to Phillip Larsen (playing in Switzerland) and the rights to Dougie Joly. They're pretty thin at center now. After Granlund they've got Harkins, Pearson, and Graovac playing center. Oh and they've got Coyle playing on the 4th line behind Vanek, Pominville and Bulmer. Just for giggles, I offered them Bonino for Coyle but they wouldn't accept.

Back to my team, I'm really disappointed with Bjugstad. I can't seem to get him to work for me. He's centering the top line between Bartschi and Tarasenko (who are killing it!) and he's got a sub-7.00 average rating and only 13 points through 20 games.

Yeah, Bjugstad is not great. I just hope that one of Horvat, McCann, Marner or Tierney will develop enough so they can take his place in the lineup. For now Bjugstad will have to do.

My biggest disappointment is by far Girgensons, he has gone back in his development and is posting real bad numbers... 22 points first season 24 points the second and under 6.50 AvR.

On a good note it seems that Puljujärvi is developing nicely for me, he had a good rookie season for me in AHL with 22+25 and 7 AvR as a 18 year old and during the summer his attributes have gone up alot. One more year in AHL then he will probably take Conachers role, he will atleast be in NHL then.

I have tried Bonino for Coyle a couple of times. they will have none of it, even though he has done nothing for them.

Is that an allowable trade? Kenins does not turn 27 until February after the season starts. Or is the age 26 going in to season three. I will look now.....

Edit: Wow, i just got a 2nd rounder for McMillan He did a decent job for me for 2 seasons but since i was changing the outlook of my bottom-6 he had no shot at making the team for season 3, never thought i would get a 2nd rounder though.
