There it is in our league's settings:
Allow Draft Pick Trading - No
Is it possible to change settings? And do we want it?

If we can change it, I see no reason not to. If it is available to us, it would eliminate the concerns we have about pick trading, because the system would handle those issues.
Now..the question would be..does it cost?

Just for info: fantasy baseball
allows trading picks. So ESPN knows how to do it...
This is an awesome catch by both of you! I don't recall ever seeing this setting, but there it is.
It's currently locked, though, so we won't be able to enable it until our draft settings are available again - which I would assume will sometime before next season.
batdad wrote:You can change your keepers whenever you want. I have put them on and off and changed them 20 times this season. It is a non issue as to when you set your keepers. I could still change my mind on the last day without any issue.
This is correct. Keeper selections won't be made official until the keeper deadline in September.
Lastly, I'm not so sure I follow the good players argument. Simply due to the nature of a keeper league, a theoretical even distribution of the best 84 players (6 keepers x 14 teams) should be locked on our teams, and thus not available at the draft. If a team is lacking any keeper-worthy players at a position, then that means someone else must have those players as extras. In which case, they will have to let them go for the draft. Or vice versus: if a team has extra keeper-worthy players at a position, then someone else is probably missing those players.
Either way, those good extra players are available to everyone in some fashion - whether we distribute the talent now via an off-season trade, or we wait for those players to be released into the draft pool. No matter what, no one is allowed to keep more than anyone else, so the talent should end up being distributed in the end.

The above looks perfect Stinson. Pretty much what I expected for the draft order,
And your posts on trades is EXACTLY what I have been trying to say. We all have 6 keepers, no matter what. Period. Same number of guys from every position released to draft. Same opportunity to gain someone new, or lose someone for nothing.

Shouldn't the drafts order should be determined by Standings through the regular season. With the 2 finalists picking 13 and 14. Just like IRL...

By the way, quick question: what do you guys think should be the criteria for the Calder? Currently, the rookie manager who finished highest in the regular season wins it. Do you guys think it would be better to include playoffs, too, and give it to the overall most successful manager?

Batdad, sorry for not replying to your trade offer - I was off on a 5-day trip to Tokyo.

Thanks to everyone for participating, and staying so active. Hopefully you'll all be back with your teams next year, when we'll see full NHL-size rosters of 23 players, in addition to a whole new league as tier 2 for TBLHL. Also don't forget, the keeper deadline will be sometime in mid-September. So don't forget to have a list together by then.

Ha! I've always enjoyed that skit. Great reference!
Also, a quick note to our incoming managers:
There is a maximum of three(3) goalies allowed on our rosters. You are permitted to have four(4) if one is on IR.
Something went a little wacky with our settings when I implemented the acquisition limit earlier in the year, causing our goalie maximum to reset to 'None'. Despite this, we're still playing by the 3-goalie maximum, and any goalie over this limit will be removed without warning (again, unless you have one on IR).

I'm also open to trade offers. I'd like to keep it simple, so keeper for keeper would be ideal. I'm looking to move Sedin for a rock solid (AKA hardware winning) keeper at either D or G. Jordan Staal is also a solid keeper if you need defensive stats.
Goalies I'd take include Luongo, Miller, Fleury, Nabokov, Lundqvist.
D I'm interested in: Green, Keith, Kaberle, Enstrom, Chara.
Open to other offers as well. Fire away.

Anyone has a spare D keeper? I don't want to keep any of mine
I can offer Zetterberg/Jokinen for such D man.

Mcqwak :I have Erstrom, maybe we can come up with something since I like Zetterberg.
Since CatchUp likes Erstrom... I would like to get a better LW than Loui Eriksson.

It looks like Kesler is available for the right price ( pretty nuch as long as it upgrades one of my keepers). Also have James neal if anyone is interested.

Possible K's now available from Phaneuf is Enough:
Jack Johnson
Brian Rafalski
Jordan Staal
Mason Raymond
Kris Letang
Guillaume Latendresse
I'm looking for an upgrade in net. So one of Ward/Bryzgalov would be available with one of the the above players for a star goalie.

I've finished "engraving" Marsac's entry on the
Minstrel Memorial Cup.
News out of Philadelphia is that Brad Richards (C), and Dustin Penner (LW) are both for sale, with an eye on getting a keeper goalie and/or possibly a keeper defenseman.

Player status update:
Keepers -
C Toews OR Koivu
LW Ovechkin
RW ?
D Weber AND Ehrhoff
G Kiprusoff
Available -
C Gomez
LW/C Vermette
LW Rolston
RW Setoguchi
RW Gionta
D Streit
D Visnovsky
D Foster
G Mason
G Ellis
There have been some inquiries about Weber. He can be had if the deal brings a +60 point RW to Bald Uakaris.
P.S. Someone had invented a great way of putting his keepers dressed and all the others on bench. It was a plain and simple and ohh so beautiful way to see at a glance who's available in a team that I aped it immediately.
