I don't think I'll have much reason to watch anything after this round, alas.

So, you're not a hockey-fan then? Only a team-fan.XenHL wrote:I don't think I'll have much reason to watch anything after this round, alas.
There are still lots of exciting hockey to be played.
I actually enjoy a good game more than a Ranger-win

Re: Official 2013 NHL Playoff Thread
Well, I guess *sorta* that's true, I'll admit. As far as the NHL goes. But I'll rather see an ugly Habs win than a Habs loss in a spectacular game (because I'll be more ready to break something if they lose after playing well!)Manimal wrote:So, you're not a hockey-fan then? Outside of that, yeah, if there's something on I don't care who's playing and I'll watch for the sake of the hockey, Olympics or IHWC or whatever.
I'm a "hockey fan" where I'm not emotionally invested with teams, and many of the teams (Penguins, Bruins, Ducks, Senators, Kings, Hawks and (sorry) Rangers) are teams that I actively dislike. The Sharks I do kinda like, the rest I'm indifferent to. But I can't watch a game like, say, Flyers-Bruins or Hawks-Ducks or whatever as a "neutral" just for the sake of the hockey.
But that's usually how it goes for me - I'll watch as long as my three teams are in, once they're all out I'll stop actively watching until the final, when I'll again watch. By then, I've usually got out of the funk from the Habs/Nucks/Wings losing.
Before 2004 though it was a different thing entirely, I watched every game I could including preseason. Now I just... don't care so much. And I watch historical games. So, maybe I'm not a hockey fan, but whatevs.

LOL. Manimal got you going Xen. He is first and foremost a Rags fan whether he admits it or not.
I can still here him cheering for Hedberg and Nilsson and Messier Leetch and Kypreos. In particular Kypreos because you know Manimal realizes what a great player he was. DUGUAY!11 DUGUAY...Greschner.....mmmmmmm Carol Alt. THat is right Carol Alt, not Carol Vadnais that Manimal loves.
I have a new team I love. ..... OTTAWA! I cannot believe what those guys have done, and they are so much fun to watch now. Ottawa? Really..wow. Who knew I could like the boring least watched and least followed Canadian NHL team.

I don't watch much of the playoffs after the Wings get eliminated, never have. There are entire SC Finals I never watched a minute of because they were just in no way compelling to me.
That doesn't mean you're not a "hockey" fan though. Especially when you've already spent all year watching Center Ice nightly or something.
I'd say the real litmus test is if you get desperate enough come late July you're praying NHL Network will air Traverse City Prospects Camp or something.

They're getting the job done without any special moves or whatever you can add, they're keeping their game simple, that's what works for them. They go straight to the net and shoot. It worked well against Price of course and especially when the Habs were forgetting how to do fore-check. When both team were good this was a nice series to watch but when the Habs started choking.....the Sens were the king. They could be the cinderella team this year!batdad wrote: I have a new team I love. ..... OTTAWA! I cannot believe what those guys have done, and they are so much fun to watch now. Ottawa? Job done for the Hawks, bye bye the Wild!

Also, had to look Carol Alt up, never heard of her. Nought special...

Really? Normally, in the playoffs I'll cheer for any Canadian team, but I've now officially removed the Sens off that list, they're no longer Canadian to me. Thankfully there are still eight others to choose from (even if only two are still in!)I have a new team I love. ..... OTTAWA! Though for me, deep into summer is when the old games get watched again. I've got some WHA DVDs now to watch through during this offseason! (Planning in advance!)

Nice one by the Kings, 4 wins in a row. I wanted the Blues though.

Both cities are on the border but what does that change? His statement is non-sense.
Islanders are on fire today, I'm starting to like that team actually. If they win tonight in OT, I think they're going to win that series even if at the beginning I thought they would never pass the Pens.
Edit: Pens just scored! Isles did well in OT too but Orpik shot was great.

Where do you think most of Buffalo's fans come from? Hint: not Buffalo.philou21 wrote:Neither does Windsor and Fort Erie, what the heck are you talking about?!
Red Wings, okay, I exaggerate a bit, but the Wings *are* like Windsor's home team.
At any rate it was intended as a joke...

I know you were joking somewhere but how should I know most fans of a team I don't really care about come from the other side of the border? I understand now what Ceebee was talking about but I barely know those two team so I don't really care about that.

I was all aboard the Isles bandwagon this year. It's a shame they're out already. Really fun team to watch, intense games. No real superstars apart from Tavares, but Bailey and Okposo have finally proven they can be big game contributors, methinks.
Switching to Ottawa now. Go Senators!

Derek Boogaard family is intending a law suit against the NHL which they blame to be the cause of the death of Derek. Am I the only one who thinks this is pointless and kind of stupid?

So, it's down to a single game for Toronto... Go Leafs!
And GO WINGS!!! (I'm too scared to look at the game for fear of jinxing them...)

What a bizarre run this is for those of us who have been watching the Wings for some time. This really is unlike anything we've really gone through in that 22 playoff span. I don't remember the last time Wings fans were truly happy to win a 1st round series. Normally it's more like "Yeah we were supposed to, on to round 2".XenHL wrote:Yay Wings!
What a weird team this is. I guess you just grab the popcorn and enjoy the ride.
