I didn't check my giveaway stats after season 1 but in season 2 my defenders are doing really well in this department, none of them are in the "top-50" of giveaways :P

Made 2 trades right before deadline to add some depth to my lineup, sent Manning and my 4th round pick to CBJ for Boone Jenner and sent Leier and my 6th round pick for Jori Lehterä. Lehterä is probably a pure rental while Jenner is a RFA that i will resign :)

66 games in and i have scored 42 goals more then St Louis that has scored 2nd most goals :o Voracek on pace for 60 goals and 128 points ;)

Edit: My 6th rounder Bourne is also leading the OHL in scoring (ahead of McJesus :o) even though he's on the worst team in the league, crazy...

So there is this other guy named Trevor Lewis, from Pennsylvania that I invited to training camp. He is 26 and has never played and was not drafted. IN his first two exhibition games he is 2-2-4. 8.5 ratings. Been my best player.

What I need to know is ... if I Sign him...since undrafted he is a C rated player, so that is all good. But if I do....am I still allowed to make a claim on waivers or not during season 1?

Thanks

Yes, one C-tier player can be claimed from waivers every season, no matter you signed any UFA that season.

Steve Mason just got injured for 2 weeks with a broken thumb. Ray Emery has a 6.00 GAA. Rob Zepp time. :notworthy:

Just finished season 2, and what a season it was... Started out scoring on everything, had some ridiculous goal per game average and Voracek was on pace for 240 points or something, then after about 10-15 games it cooled off but we kept winning most of our games, no major injuries and we ended up 2nd in the East behind TBL.

Voracek won both the Rocket Richard and Art Ross Trophy with 57 goals and 125 points. Giroux was second in points and Raffl 5th in goals with 48 :o Giroux led the NHL in +/- with a staggering +58. Overall i'm more or less happy with every single player on the team, Laughton led all rookies in scoring with 60 points and looks a real prospect, i'm glad i moved Vinny. Larsson really steadied up my D alot, played him 23 minutes a game and he did very well...

In the playoffs my 1st line cooled off a bit but instead my 2nd line really heated up led my Brayden Schenn and they took me past both Bruins (4-3) and Caps (4-1). Habs however was too strong for us in the Conference Final and we lost in game 7 :/ Worth noting is that Mason got hurt in game 3 against Bruins and Khudobin came in an never looked back... Habs went on to win the cup in 6 games against Sharks.

My AHL team tanked super hard this season, i lost some players for them in the off-season and they sucked really bad. My 6th rounder Damian Bourne won the OHL in scoring with 126 points, not bad for a 6th rounder ;) McJesus 3rd in scoring with 104 :) Ghost is looking really good and will probably be my HG next season to take the spot of Colaiacovo/Schultz...

Draft day, drafting at #28 i took Tyler Nother who dropped after being ranked as #12, he's an offensive right handed D-man with great size and skating, basicly a scouts wet dream, he's coming off a 60 point season in OHL :) In the second round i had 2 picks, #58 and #60 (acquired from MTL for Vinny) and i took Keaton Middleton as #58, he's a 6'7" LD. As #60 i took C Beck Malenstyn, in the later rounds i picked Alex DeBrincat, Hayden Hodgson and Charles-Éric Benson.

Edit: Giroux picked up the Lester B. Pearson Award ahead of Voracek, Laughton got Calder, Raffl got 3rd in the vote for Lady Byng, Giroux and Voracek 2nd and 3rd for King Clancy, Berube 2nd in Jack Adams (LOL) and Voracek came in 2nd for Hart behind Duncan Keith... Juuse Saros also became the ECHL best goalie :P

During the off season before season 3 i wanted to adress the D problem, with Streit closing in on 40 we really need a new #1 guy, i had no luck on the UFA market though as the only legit 1st pairing guy there was Yandle and he's Tier A so i had to make a move to get my D. I looked into my depth charts to see what i could offload, i realised that Akeson was never going to get the top-6 role he needs in this team but him alone wouldn't get me a top pairing D. On the UFA market however there was alot of good LWs so i thought maybe i could offload Raffl aswell and bring in a UFA LW to replace him... Sent the offer of Akeson+Raffl to alot of teams for their Tier B top pairing Ds and to my surprise Calgary accepted that offer for T.J. Brodie :) Picked up Lucic on a 5year $25m deal to replace Raffl, very happy with that piece of business.

15 games in season 1. 11-2-2. Same old story for me. Not getting any PP production, defensively I have been very good, and have given up 2 Power Play goals period. Goaltending has been good, and Voracek, Raffl and Giroux have been beasts. First time in a LONG LONG time I have had guys at the top of the scoring race this late into a season (yeah 16 games)

Giroux leads the league 8-17-25 and Voracek is 5th 11-11-22.

I may actually get a 50 goal scorer? Not gonna happen, bet Jakub goes into a 20 game slump.

Some things I Have noticed...not so many third period come backs by the opposition. But ....you do get the same result when your goalie starts weak and replace him. Team comes out fired up and starts the comeback. Twice I have yanked Mason down 3-0 early, and both times at end of period 1 it was 3-3. I did end up losing one of those games 6-5 though.

Not having many problems with my D and turnovers like others. But with the exception of Streit they are all set to very defensive, and either very safe pass, dump normal or safe pass dump often.

Raffl has been the biggest surprise for me. And Luke Schenn is not playing BAD...started bad but last 5 games ratings are 8-7-7-8-7. That is all since I changed a couple of his things....gap control is now wide, and puck pressure low. Seems to have helped him

Raffl and Voracek have both scrapped. Voracek beat the rubbish out of Brandan Prust and Raffl beat the daylights out of Shawn Thornton. That just makes me howl.

Rinaldo has had 3 fights, and won them all beating the rubbish out of: noted tough guy Steve Bernier in New Jersey (27 PIM for this scrap, lol), another noted tough guy Marek Zidlicky (15 PIM) Zidlicky only got a roughing minor. Great typical Rinaldo attack Hehand finally the reasonably tough Mr. Matt Hendricks of the Oilers (In this one Hendricks instigated.

Anwyay here is my set up right now.

Umberger-Giroux-Voracek
Raffl- B Schenn-Simmonds (Read)
Bellemare-Couturier-Read (Simmonds)
Rinaldo-Vande Velde-White

Notice someone not there? Vinny Lecavalier. He is terrible for me, and has an average rating of 5.8 in the games I have let him in. He is my only extra forward right now.

Del Zotto-Streit
Nick Schultz-MacDonald
Grossman-L Schenn

Gudas and waiver wire pick up Kostka get in sometimes. Gudas is in particular playing poorly.

Mason
Emery

ETA: Forgot to mention the fun competition I have going with my scouts. Who will be the last to find McDavid? Right now I have 4 guys scouting and only 1 has found him. They have been working the draft since Oct 1, and only 1 of three have seen him play. It is November 13.

Yup. Waivers and UFAs are separate.

You must be a tactic wizard if you are getting this team to play solid D in the first season batdad.... Useless D and an underperforming goalie (issue with the game i think)... well done i must say :)

Yeah I have some decent luck with my tactics for sure. Very defensive minded with my defensemen for sure, and always at least one hard skating foward on the back check,

Goalie records so far...17 games now

Emery 5-1-1 1.27 .955 1 SO
Mason 8-1-1 1.60 .946 3 SO

Individual tactics are in use for all my players, goalies set to stay in crease, very defensive and very safe pass.

Aight, so time consuming :D I just use a few individual tweaks here and there and mostly go for unit tactics...

Yeah when you first start out it is. And then you have to check them every time after an injury or you sit em out.

I should probably use them more for my D-men though, especially the defensive minded ones... One thing i always wondered, "carry puck" what does it do? i usually just click it for my best forwards :P

I do not allow that for ANY defenseman. THey get caught up ice and you are screwed. They do not join rush either. And even the offensive dmen, the most they get is playing defensive at even strength, and normal on PP

That's too conservative for my liking, but i will definitely have a look on my individual tactics, especially for my D-men :P

If you do not go super conservative...you get no defensive results. :)

20 games in the books 15-2-3 Giroux and VOracek have slowed down, not scoring as often last few. Jakub in his last 6 games 2-3-5 and 3 of those were in one game. GIroux is 2-3-5 in same span and 4 of those points between 2 games. Those two need to get it back. They have dropped to 7th and 16th in points in the league, and Voracek to 12th in goals from 2nd. But what the hell James Wisniewski? 3-20-23 for the Ducks,

On to the next 20

rubbish forgot to post this Vinny got his first two points for me 1-1 in the 20th game of the season (his 15th). yeah he done.

Double post (I am good at that)...to say....

November 26, played 21 games, started scouting draft October 1st. Until today I had 3 of 4 scouts who had NOT seen COnnor McDavid and Dylan Strome play for Erie. Really? These are good scouts too. 20/20 for 2 of them and 18.19 for the third.

Anyway....My American guy, Bo....finally saw him as did my Canadian dufus--Todd. The last guy and the winner of the lottery is my friend from Sweden Andreas Karlsson. He has still not seen Mr McD....yet he has seen kids from Sarnia, Belleville, Owen Sound, Kingston, Ottawa, Kitchener, North Bay, Oshawa, Peterborough Sault St Marie, Niagara London Saginaw . Basically he has not seen 3 teams.....LONDON< MISSISAUGA....and for some unknown reason Erie.

I am thinking there should be something in the game where you can scream and yell at a scout.

I am finishing Q2, holding 4th spot in EC. Voracek&Giroux looking unstoppable. Streit is 4th in league defensemen scoring, Amac as well but in league giveaways. Lecavalier moved to 4th line as he was useless, just getting penalties. Hope i will be able to move him and his horrible contract away next season. Schenn brothers will be moved probably also, if they dont step up in second half of season. Another candidate for trade is Grossmann.

HI again.
Been away for sometime .I lost my laptop with the original game and was unable to get the new one to run it.Tried several fixes but none worked.
Pleasantly surprised to get the email for the new game. I just loaded it with the updated rosters and am now looking over the new challenge rules.
Lots has changed but looks fun.
