Just an update, halfway through a second Euro league season with no crashes or glitches, so anyone with 10.1 inch screens on a windows 7 netbook... there appears to be hope !
On an unrelated note, I just read the post about illegal copies of the game and it burns my butt ! I just purchased the game for the second time to put on this netbook as I'd ran out on my initial purchase and don't want to remove the licence from my PC and the second computer it had been on is long gone ... $35 well spent again for the years of enjoyment !!!

Sooooooo,
Still working fine with the screen resolution fix ... found a way to get patch 3.04 & Lidas/Manimal database 3.0 on as well, so all up and running and no issues using a 10.1 inch screen notebook.
If interested, as I mentioned above I was able to update patch 3.02 but got the error that I was missing the .dll file again when trying to load patch 3.04 ... simple fix (obviously I'm no computer genius), just had to move the .dll file from wherever I had saved it over to the EHM folder.
I then downloaded the 3.0 database to EHM folder. Tried to unzip it and it wouldn't let me ... *sigh*, removed it from the folder (apparently windows 7 isn't fond of you trying to unzip a file in the program files) and placed it in a folder elsewhere, unzipped it, moved the unzipped folder into EHM database folder and all's well ...
At least if you're stubborn enough this all can work !

Has anyone figured out a way to make EHM playable in windowed mode with a resolution of 1024x768? I tried the solution but Realpity but it seems to only work for netbooks.

Sorry, my solution seems only geared to 10.1 inch notebooks with windows 7

The physical screen size won't affect this.
Gelowitz - are you saying you're running 1024x768 and it still won't load? Try setting the taskbar to autohide. I used to play EHM 2007 on my old 1024x768 laptop with no issues - presumably because I had the taskbar on autohide.

It looks like my wife and I are buying a new laptop with Windows 7 on it. It's got 1600x900 resolution. I'm hoping I don't run into any problems getting it to run EHM. I've love to be able to play EHM at home once in a while!

I'm able to play it on a 1440x900 resolution in windowed mode with no problems. TBH I'm pretty sure it works at 1024x768 if you set the taskbar to autohide (as mentioned earlier).

Ok, found the problem... I had my computer attached to my TV and apparently it didn't support the game

So I finally got the new laptop with Win7. I installed EHM without issue, launched it and licensed it. Then I patched it and got the error missing mscvr71.dll and had to download it from the net and install it manually. I did that and now it launches. Looks good to go!

I had absolutely no problems at all. I'm enjoying it again.

Dito - I installed EHM '07 directly to my new laptop and I've had no issues whatsoever. The only problem is finding time to play!

Hi. I'm having the same problem regarding the game starting.
When I click on the icon, the curser looks like it's loading, but then nothing happens, no error message, nothing.
I've tried running as admin & downloading the dll mentioned in other posts but still nothing

.
The game's fully licensed and updated with patch 3.0.4.
Does anyone have any idea how to get it working? I'm running Windows 7 64 bit.

Do you have any other software running in the background? E.g. anti-virus, firewalls, etc. I would try disabling (or ideally quitting) the software to see if EHM runs then. We have had cases of anti-virus/firewall software mysteriously preventing EHM from loading.
If you right-click on the EHM exe file and select Properties, there should be a section that lets you run the software in compatibility mode. What options does it give you? Can you select anything like XP 32-bit compatibility mode? The fact that you're running a 64-bit OS could be causing complication (which is ridiculous because 32-bit should be so a thing a of the past by now).

Guys, I just got a new laptop with a resolution of 1366*768, and although I set my taskbar to autohide, the game still won't run in windowed mode. Any other solutions?

Have you added the commands to your EHM shortcut in the start menu/desktop? In the
Target box you should have the following (note that part of the commands are outside of the speech marks):
Code: Select all
"C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007\ehm2007.exe" -small_screen -windowed

Have you done anything to EHM since installing it? Are you running a purchased version or a pirate version you downloaded of the internet?
What files do you have listed in your
NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007\data\fonts folder? There should be four:
- main.hmf
- scoreboard.hmf
- symbol.hmf
- titlebar.hmf

I think you may be out of luck in regards to running in a window. The game interface itself needs at least 768 vertically. Even with an auto-hidden taskbar, it probably still wants to fit the window's titlebar and borders on the screen when it initializes.
Other than playing in fullscreen, I think your best bet would be to try using a higher resolution when you play EHM, if your display lets you. Bump it up to 1440x900 or something, and then it should run in a window. It'll probably look a bit ugly, but you'll at least be in a window. This is what I did for my 1360x768 TV, before I eventually got annoyed and just settled for fullscreen

That's odd, I'm sure I used to be able to run EHM 2007 in windowed mode on my old laptop at 1024x768. I remember I was running Windows XP at the time and I didn't like the size of the close/restore/minimise buttons and so I made them smaller. This in turn made the window title bars smaller. I wonder if this is how I managed it...

Maybe it would be worth looking into whether you can change your theme on Windows 7 so that it has smaller title bars (such as by using a traditional Windows 2000 theme/appearance)?

I can run EHM 2007 no problems at all, but EHM 2005 is giving me issues. It is doing the same thing Murphy1878 stated. And I did try turning off my anti-virus programs and the same thing happened. Nothing at all. Just looks like it's loading, then nothing.

Thanks to all of you who have posted solutions in this thread. I am computer illiterate, and just bought a new laptop with windows 7. I have successfully reinstalled the game, and the patch, and the new rosters 3.1. I am now heading off to the challenge forum to read the rules and make sure I know what I am doing. Yep...even I have to read.

Just google the name of the DLL, download it and put it in the system64 (i think) of windows7.
Et voila

You need two files to run EHM2007 in Windows 7 64 bit or 32 bit. They are Msvcp71.dll and Msvcr71.dll.
Follow this link for instructions and download of the files;
http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-ti ... windows-7/
Also run EHM shortcut as compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2 and as admin then your good to go!
