Though it won't be hockey related, the answer to your question is Clara Hughes. Hughes in the only Canadian athlete who has won medals in both the Summer and Winter Games. She is also the sixth Canadian speedskater to carry the flag.

Ha! What a little cry-baby douche.
Didn't make the team as a starter, so he's not even gonna go at all.

Alexei Morozov carrying Russia flag. Zigmund Palffy carrying Slovak flag. Probably Forsberg for Sweden. Peltonen is carrying Finnish flag. See something there...gee I wonder which is the most important Olympic event.
Anyway..the reason it is these guys of course is the NHL is still playing and the real stars will not be there yet. Save of course Jagr,Foppa. Really curious to see how Jagr plays in this tournament and if he has lost some of the ability to compete at the highest level or not.

My wife just told me this morning that she wants to watch the Women's Hockey in the Olympics. She can have fun with that, hopefully during the day while I'm at work.

I don't mind the girl hockey. Some of em are pretty cute. Tough to find em amongst all the crazy looking ones though.

The problem with Women's Hockey is the attitude of the ones in charge of it. What about setting up rules like "no hitting", who thought of that in a sport like hockey? Women are not built of glass, but the organization do think so and promotes "put the stick around the waist hockey".
A couple of words about it i found googling:
"Leading the charge, Swedish national coach Peter Elander thinks women should and would play under the same rules as men. In addition to believing that a ban on bodychecking restricts the sport from increasing its fan base, he says the rules against hitting amount to sexism.
"I just think it's so old-fashioned to say ‘Girls can do this, but they can't do that,'." says Elander, whose team plays Canada tonight in a Hockey Canada Cup semi-final. "Women are doing the full Ironman [triathlon]. So what's this about women not being able to do what men can?"
Bring it on, says U.S. defenceman Angela Ruggiero."

Try coaching women's hockey. The craziness will make you sneak a flask or two onto the bench!
I also don't mind the Olympic women's hockey, but the fact that we see the same 4 nations competing for the medals takes a little of the drama out. Now over time I think more nations will grow their national teams and we'll see more teams going for medals, like the men's tournament.

I think it's good that women not hit each other. I don't want to see woman with no teeths in interview.
And about that defenceMAN. In Finland, there's many (mostly of them are male jobs) jobs with "man" ("mies"). For example electrician is sähköMIES, firefighter is paloMIES, lawyer is lakiMIES, plumber is putkiMIES, police officer is poliisiMIES etc.
P.s. Why women use jockstrap?
- reason is, that referee doesn't have to ask: "where the Lindros is the puck?"

A bit over the top there Jyp with that last joke.
Anyway...Women and hitting..they do it. They just do it properly...with angles not silly in open ice looking to take off heads. Angling is actually the proper way to make a hit. Lots of contact. Ruggiero saying bring it on, does not surprise me...she is one tough girl.
And no..I will NEVER coach women's hockey. Maybe my daughter but not when she grows up. No way...they will all go nuts the same time every month.
And those Czech lines--will last until they get down in a game.

Brad May and Jonathan Cheechoo clear waivers. Jamie Lundmark gets picked up by the Leafs.
The Wings have signed prospect Willie Coetzee to an entry-level contract.

Yeah, sorry, just noticed. The Internet connection is terrible today. I'll repost, and if somebody can clear up, I'd be grateful.

lehtinen and peltonen just doesn't belong to fin lineup. experience and leadership sure but too much int. big game losses in the past and they are just not what they used to be. maybe lehtinen can't handle it anymore he's injured all the time.
peltonen usually thrives in big games but j.jokinen would been more valuable add to scoring poor lineup.
