I haven't played on my XBox for months. I'm way too busy with other things. I'm half-thinking of selling it on ebay. However, the other half still likes 2k6 and PES 5 :-k

Improvements I want in the future for 07

* Sort out the glitch that when you change the selected difficulty level at the 'Play Now' screen, it resets all of your other settings. As this is the only place that you can change your difficulty level, this is incredibly annoying.

* Have all the updated jerseys of Buffalo

* Sort out the progression glitch (although this can be sorted manually at the moment)

* Have spotlights on the ice after a player scores at home, and before the game

* Enable more scrapping along the boards

* Have more varied 'cut-scene' animations between plays on the ice. What is there is good, but there aren't enough

* Have longer and more accurate goalhorns. Since when have Phoenix just had a Coyote howling, without a proper horn?

* Have more editing options and gameplay options.

* If need be, steal the tapes of the 2k5 commentary dialogue. The 07 Clement and Thorne just aren't varied enough

I like to make my EHM teams on NHL 07 so I can see them in some real action. :-D

NHL 07 (for XBox 360) is the best hockey game ever released where you actually control the players. Imagine a cross between EHM 2007 and NHL 07. That would be absolutely amazing. I like the skill stick a lot better than the buttons. I win a lot more than I did with buttons... I guess it just feels more natural to me.

07 for the pc sucks, i mean can't they put the skill stick on the numpad?
Other then that, its ok i mean for the first few minutes.... after a while you win hard 10-0 even if you set all the sliders to give the AI all the advantage you can give them

Wish i could afford a 360 right now......(or wish i could blow up the EA production team in a manner of speech)

That wouldn't work at all.

Besides, the 360 version is made by a different part of EA then the PC and current gen versions.

I know, but the thing is EA ran a poll, 60% of the people played NHL07 on the PC
and only 15% on the XboX360.

And yes i know it's made by a diffrent part of EA but im sure they would atleast be able to improve the game by atleast a little bit(the montreal section of EA that made the pc ps2 and xbox versions).

Well let's just hope 2008 will be better for the pc, still need to try NHL2007 on the 360 though.

The current gen version has alot more features than the 360 one.

All it has going for it is the skill stick... but it's welllllll worth it. :joy:

Man, is this a wicked PP unit:

Code: Select all

                                       NET
                                     |-------|

                         Parrish Demitra/Gaborik

                                                        Gaborik/Demitra
                Zidlicky

                                       Rolston
They score every time.

Rather than me going way off topic in the Hockey Forum, I thought I'd ask for everyone's opinion in here: Should I get NHL 2007 or 2k7 for my old XBox? I'm leaning towards the EA NHL 2007 simply because I have 2k6 already and I hear that 2k7 is no better/different to 2k6. :-?

If you don't have a 360 don't bother with the EA game.

The only good thing about it is the skill stick which is only on the 360.

Get 2k7.

Agreed, the 2k series is usually better, however there probably won't be much improvement on the XBOX version since they were focusing on next gen

And I couldn't get into the skill stick. Concept, nice, but I didn't feel it was complete.

I love it.

It's alot better than the old controls.

The problem with it is that once you know how to use it the game is way too easy.

Which is unfortunatly the case in every hockey game i've ever played.

One of my favorites was, umm 2003 I think, that had Lemiuex on the cover. It was easy, but I loved the concept of the break away cam, I loved getting open and getting that slight shading/slow down and the heart beat effect.

I've heard good and bad things about both NHL 07 and NHL 2k7 so it's really tough to choose. They're both, in effect, half-price on play.com so I'm tempted to trade in (or maybe sell on e-bay) 2k6 and get both 07 and 2k7 :-k

When they came out for the 360, i had some extra $$$ plus a discount, so I bought both. It's really the only way to tell between the two, is which one you feel more comfortable playing.

I read over at IGN that neither 2k Sports nor EA Sports have completely ruled-out releasing their 2008 (or 2k8) games on the XBox. I'm going to wait until a definite answer. 2k6 will tide me over until September - I'd sooner wait for 2k8 than get 2k7 right now.

EA Sports or 2K Sports?

I'm just interseted in which game platform people play these on, and which they prefer, if anyone plays either of them?

I tend to favour NHL 2k7, but NHL 2008 looks pretty good, so i think ill buy that this year, just interested to see what people prefer, thanks,

My vote's for Niether.

Because, EA is the same old cookie-cutter junk every year(if it wasn't for the different titles on each of their games, I wouldn't be able to tell which game was which).

And then there's the 2K series, which is the undisputed king of blatant bugs.

In the end, my run with EA ended with the nightmare known as NHL 2003. And my short run with 2K ended with NHL 2K4. Since then, I've completely given up on all console hockey, and the fact that either of these series' is still going has boggled my mind. But I don't care... once I gave up on 2K4, I discovered a little genre called "management sims." They're ages ahead of any console sports game. And they basically run my sports-gaming life.

I use to be a HUGE fan of EA sportts hockey games.. but in the last years.. they lost the simulation optic of the game.. its getting more and more arcade style.
2Ksports is very accurate for the realism.. but the graphics is not that great.. and there is bugs...

Its how i found EHM.. searching for another game and so far its the best one even if I dont control the players.

My choice betwen those 2 console game is 2Ksports.. hoping they will get rid of the bugs for next year.. EA is hopeless.. they made the game in montreal last year.. and it was still rubbish.

I voted neither. I used to play the EA games back in the 90's on my Sega Genesis and then my Super Nintendo. They were fun for the time. As the game consoles got more advanced, the more buttons there were to remember. It took a lot of the fun out of the game because I was always trying to remember how to do something. I had a Playstation (the first one) and then an XBox. I bought the games for both of those but they never really did much for me. I've tried both the EA and the 2K games. They look pretty... better than I ever would've hoped for in a hockey game. They just weren't fun. Then again, I just don't enjoy console games anymore. These days I really only play EHM and a couple of web browser games. I play RPGs on the computer sometimes too but I don't really have the time to invest in them.

So after that long rambling post... I vote neither because I don't play either of them these days.

I find it hard to believe that you can call NHL 07 cookie cutter seeing as how it brought something that you can't find in any other hockey game on the market with the right analog stick is your stick control setup.

I used to favor the 2k games, but ever since NHL07 there is no way I can possibly go back.

NHL 08 looks amazing.

Can't wait to climb to the top 10 in the leaderboards again this year...
