No, its definatly Stastny.
Also, just wanna point out, there is still a chance McAmmond could become an Oiler.

For a 3rd, right?
Jeez, I wish the Bruins could've picked up Kvasha for a 3rd!
Wow! Isn't that a bit much to give up for Weinrich? He's older than dirt!
Double agreement there... Kvasha for third is a great deal. And yes, I laugh as every year at the deadline someone still
gives up something overpays to get Weinrich... he is the NHL's Kevin Bacon. Any player in the NHL can be traced back to Eric Weinrich in six or less steps
To add a bit on other deals yeah that Parrish/Sopel deal stunned me too but it was a case of two teams with two different strategies both getting the best deal to address the team's needs.
I see one change this year is it's all about draft pics so you don't have to bring in anyone else = full Cap relief. I agree though trades for picks, as a fan, suck.
Edited to agree with Systemfel that a 3rd is giant overpaying for Weinrich; would you rather have Kvasha or Weinrich for a 3rd?!?

Weinrich was "only" dealt for a 3rd...

Bufff, Marty Reasoner.....dont know if I like that one...
I think hes more a Primeau tipe of Center, right??
Looking at the Edmonton roster I would have preferred a Jarred Stoll or even a Shawn Horcoff in exchange for Sammy. Well, it is clear that we needed a center, but I would have preferred a more offensive guy than Reasoner, but hey, I will give him a chance, lol!!!
Is it confirmed that the prospect is Danny Syvret???
Just in case of, here are his stats playing in the OHL with the London Knights:
2004-05 Regular Season London Knights G:62 Goals: 23 Assists: 46 Points: 69 +/-70 PIM 33
69 points in 62 games...not bad for a Dmen, not??

Edmonton would be nuts to give up Danny Syvret.

I've only said it was Stastny about 3 times.

No problem, I was the one who brought up Syvret in the first place, and with all the trades going around today it can get confusing.

Wait are you
sure it was for Paul Stanley? I mean I know everyone loves The Starchild but I doubt at his age he's got much left in the tank; and I didn't even know he played hockey. I just seems wierd to me... did you mean Stastny instead?

I guess I got a bit emotional to hear we just picked up a good, young, promising Dman, that I didnt realize that it was Stastny who would come back to Boston...
...never mind

I'm really not that suprised that Samsonov has gone but I'm shocked at what we got in return. Surely we could have gotten some better talent in return?! Now we lack a big star - the closest we have is perhaps Murray or Bergeron. I can't see us making the playoffs until we get a big player into our team.
FoxSports' fantasy predictions of the possible impact of the players sums it up really:
Reasoner - Reasoner is not an offensive threat and should probably fit in on the Bruins third line. His fantasy value is definitely limited in Boston.
Stastny - He does not have any fantasy value at this time.
Samsonov - He will fit in nicely with Ryan Smyth and should be a big force on the power play. He should do much better in Edmonton than in Boston.
Yeah nice one, O'Connell

Archi this deal didn't happen untill AFTER the deadline has passed, so I get the feeling that MOC was scrambling to get anything he could for Samsonov.

I didn't realise that. Does that mean he's going at the end of the season

No hes finishing the season with Edmonton, but it means nobody really want Samsonov, or that the best deal MOC was gonna get was the one the Oilers offered. It was the kind of thing where he was probably waiting by his phone untill 2:59:59 hopeing for a better deal before faxing the paperwork to the NHL.

I agree, that we probably got as much as we were going to get for Samsonov. As the GM of another team, his injury problems and UFA status wouldn't make him that attractive. And who knows, maybe we'll get him back in the offseason?
I think Reasoner might fit in nicely on the second line with Murray. Murray really misses the play-making abilities of Thornton and Reasoner might be a good set-up guy for him. I know he's no Thornton but he might fit that roll well enough.
