October 1st
The Groups were drawn today for the World Junior Hockey Championship, and Czech Republic has drawn into Group A with Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and France.
The ISS released their Preliminary Rankings for the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, and one IceDogs was ranked!
LW Radko Tvrznik - #197
The top-ranked player was Regina Pats center Sam Reinhart, followed by Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk defenseman Alexandr Uvarov, and Edmonton Oil Kings center Conner Bleackley.
The top-ranked OHL Player is Barrie Colts defenseman Aaron Ekblad (#6).
The ISS also released their Preliminary Rankings for the 2009 OHL Priority Selection!
The top-ranked player was Oakville Rangers center Dale Pike, followed by Lindsay Muskies defenseman Emyle Gauvreau, and Toronto Young Nationals center Ryne Rodgers.

October 5th
The IceDogs remain at home to play host to the Saginaw Spirit. Chris Festarini stopped 24 of the 29 shots he faced, and though the IceDogs led 4-3 with just five minutes left in the game, the Spirit scored three goals to take the victory!

The IceDogs travel to play the Peterborough Petes. Chris Festarini stopped 20 of the 22 shots he faced, and the IceDogs took a four goal lead into the third, and despite the Petes picking up a couple goals in the final frame, they never really got into the game.

The World Junior Championship begins play today. Czech Republic is in Group A with Denmark, Finland, France, and Sweden!
Finland vs. France
Finland defeat France 2-0! First star honours would go to Finnish goaltender Atte Tolvanen, who posted an 18 save shutout. Second star would go to Finnish defenseman Ville Pokka, who scored a goal, and an assist. Third star would go to French goaltender Louis-Etienne Paquet, who stopped 22 of 24 shots in the loss.
Sweden vs. Czech Republic
Czech Republic defeat Sweden 3-2! First star honours would go to Czech winger Stepan Martinec, who scored two goals. Second star would go to Swedish center Elias Lindholm, who recorded two assists. Third star would go to Czech defenseman Michal Plutnar, who recorded two assists.
In Group B action, Canada defeat USA 5-3, and Russia defeat Kazakhstan 4-1!

IceDogs winger Radko Tvrznik, and defenseman Roger Cote have been named to the Team Cherry Roster for the CHL Top Prospects Game!
January 4th
The IceDogs remain at home to play host to the London Knights. Chris Festarini stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced, and though the Knights scored first, the IceDogs scored twice in the second period, and then held the Knights off the rest of the game in the victory!

First star honours would go to Team Cherry center Alexander Kristofferson (Seattle Thunderbirds), who scored two goals. Second star would go to Team Davidson winger Reid Gardiner (Prince Albert Raiders), who scored two goals. Third star would go to Team Cherry center William Eldh (Kelowna Rockets), who recorded an assist.
IceDogs defenseman Roger Cote played 19:58, was -1, served 4 penalty minutes, and had a shot on goal 1 hit and 2 shot blocks for Team Cherry!

The Niagara IceDogs have clinched a berth in the OHL Playoffs!
The Belleville Bulls have clinched a berth in the OHL Playoffs.
IceDogs winger Scott Pokulok has been suspended two games for a vicious cross check to the chest of Sault Ste. Marie winger Pier-Antoine Courcelles in the third period of Niagara's 3-1 victory over Sault Ste. Marie.
February 17th
The IceDogs remain at home to play host to the Sudbury Wolves. Chris Festarini stopped 25 of 26 shots he faced, and the IceDogs got out to an early 3-0 lead, and held the Wolves off for the rest of the game!

The IceDogs travel to play the Ottawa 67's. Chris Festarini stopped only 1 of 4 shots he faced before being pulled in favor of Jesse McCullough, who stopped 30 of 36 shots the rest of the way, as the IceDogs were dominated from the opening whistle!
