I don't know about buying drinks... that's the thing about playing a female character I don't worry about that stuff ;)

Public Service Announcement to all TBL Popomundians:
Monday is Halloween!!! For those of you who don't know, if you buy and wear a 'Halloween Monster Mask' (found in shops under toys) all day on Halloween at some point during the day you get a BIG mood boost, it will probably put you up to 100% :joy: Don't miss out!! Make sure you wear your mask and do so until you see a message in your diary that syas something about how much you love Halloween and you get your mood boost.

The follow up to that is that 26.12.2006 is Popo New Years Eve and on that day if you have fireworks on you you light off your fireworks to celebrate New Years and you get a mood boost for that too but not as much as Halloween if I'm remembering correctly.

Hey hey I'm out of prison :joy: And I'm just in time for the Halloween Monster Mask thing (I think) so hopefully I can get my mood back up. I'm in with a chance of one of my photos being published so things are looking up for the new, reformed Floyd!

How do I give someone an item? I dropped a pin off at April's place but it didn't work :-k

Giving people an item is tricky... you have to go to their player profile page and click on items on their page to do it.

Don't forget to go to your own items list and wear your mask too. Long live Free Range Floyd!! :-p

Congrats to Never Dies who have now sold over 500 tickets for the Cerebus Tour Competition =D>

Mark, if it's the go shopping one then you have to set your 'Spare Time Mission' setting in 'Priorities & Skills' to 'Go Shopping' until you get an update. It doesn't have to do with you going to the store and physically buying things. ;)

New Skill Books out today!!! To go along with the new show system... I was reading in the PopoForums about it so I copied in a description of the books into this thread in the Popo section of the KB:

http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/kb ... ticle&k=70

I think we all know that April who already has dancing will soon study that skill to 3 stars so she can learn Erotic Dance :-p

Basic Special Effects
Want to create a Brocken Spectre in a smoky cloud on stage or recreate Judgement Day with pyrotechnics? This is the basic skill for you.
Secrecy: This is a public skill. Anyone can see it.
Category: Stage & Performance
Learn from: Book ''Basic Special Effects'' or Master/Mistress
Requirements for learning Basic Special Effects:
Anyone (12 years or older) can learn this skill. It has no prerequisites.
:joy: I'm really happy to see this as a skill. Now there's hope for me properly implementing my beloved Pink Floyd-style concerts. :joy:

Yup, and the follow up skill to that is also new: Lighting Wizardry you have to get Basic Spec. Effect to 3 stars to learn that one though.

I kept thinking that one was "LightNing Wizardry" and I was all "The hell is that going to be used for?!?"

Speaking of shows...

I got two invites from Victory [ROCK] -N'ville . Problem is, it's in Nashville, and I've never traveled before. ...Would anyone happen to have any good tips for traveling to another city for a show?

Real easy... since Nashville is one of the connected cities with NYC. All you have to do is move yourself to the NY-Nashville travel route and someone will pick you up. Or you could knock out your fly in an airplane Mother's Nag and fly, go to JFK under 'City Services' and see how much the flight would cost. Then, hike back.. as taking a bus is easier on your mood and your pocketbook.

Go to the Traveller's Guide under 'Community' to check out the travel routes and times...

Trick or treat! I just LOVE Halloween. It makes me so happy to go and scare people!
wOOt! :joy:

It is also at this time that as a follow up I mention that having 100% mood is a great time to start writing a new song, as one factor in how well your songs turn out is the mood you were in when you began writing it...

Music Improvisation
Any attempt of performing a solo would just turn out like a cacophony of seagulls without this skill.
 Now theres no excuse not to schedule me a solo.

Yup... you will also be able to use onstage beer drinking as a skill for experience points which is why I bought you the proper drinking habits book :-p

Speaking of which these are obviously role playing details/individual character decisions. So with the new system people should look into a couple of show events that they want to do at shows. Even if you horribly botch them on stage (though I suggest against firbreathing* given forum reports of hospitalizations from burns  ) you get experience points for performing them!

Since April has high charm and looks I'll be having her doing talk to the crowd and shake hands with the crowd and since she is lead singer/dancer I'll be having her eventually doing erotic dance carrying on our tradition of tearingoff clothing after playing our song Tear it! :-p

My guess would be people should choose three things to focus on for in-show use; but we'll have to experiment. Obviously you should build your core musical skills like your genre skill (for us it's punk rock) and your "instrument" (for April it's singing is her instrument) skills before your individual skills but yes the New Dawn is upon us! :-D

Edit: *I'm keeping that typo, because "firbreathing" cracks me up... but I of course meant firebreathing which there are many reports of people taking giant health hits botching that on stage, same with lighting pyrotechnics (the Great White example ;) ) so beware!

It's official, the old system is dead  so what's up with the new system? Well, the main thing is that it's more difficult/intricate to do well at so everyone's shows will take a big step back in quality but it is much harder on the giant bands who have been known to fall like 10-12 levels in show quality!!

There are more and different show events (with more to come) that can now be set to be done by a specific band member. In the design interface it will tell you the skills that are used for each. The thing is that it will be doing these events that will greatly affect your character gaining their 1 to 3 experience points for the week. So I say pack 'em in!!

What you want to do is obviously down to how you want to role play your character. Looking at the new skill books you can choose one you'd like to roll with and go from there, or you can find a certain stage event you'd like to do and track down the skills listed there.

For example April is already listed as Lead Singer/Dancer and has basic dancing. She has and is building in looks and charm too. I've been setting us up with a kind of 'signature' moment after playing our song Tear it! where we tear off clothes... well with the new system and the intro of erotic dance April will be taking that to be a solo activity buy your tickets now!!! ;) I've set her to also shake hands with the crowd as well as do another dance to show off her booty shakin skillz.

Jeb is well known as a lover of Canadian Whiskey so I bought him the 'Proper Drinking Habits' skill a while back upon seeing that the 'Drink a Beer' stage action will use that skill. So some things are just naturals others you'll have to decide what you want your character to do

:tiptap: I'm adding the above to the KB so sorry about repeating myself a bit...

Annnd *drum roll* here's the full-size version of the artist banner I designed recently for Floyd's:

Nice graphic!

So if we add an "event" that we don't have the skill for, will it seriously damage our performance? I kind of stayed away from doing much because I didn't want to hurt our performance. I'd love to stagedive and/or crowdsurf towards the end of our show but I know that takes skills. Also, does smashing your instrument on stage actually make you lose your instrument? I'd love to do that but can't afford to keep replacing my guitar.

I think I just found something. Here it is:

Earlier, Minty said that he thinks mood's effect on a song's quality is determined and "locked in" at the time of the songs start. If this is true, then I just found out that you can create multiple songs at once... meaning: if you have almost perfect mood, create a handful of songs right then and there and all will get the advantage of a really high mood. And then you can just finish them all off whenever you get the time.

I warn, though - this could be considered cheating... which is not only boring and subtracts from the fun, but is frowned upon in Popomundo.

With the new show system it's the exact opposite of how the show events used to work basically as they've tied them into the experience points now so you get "points for trying" so to speak. Having the skills to do it well will be what will matter for how the show ends up being rated, but as for gaining experience from doing actions it doesn't matter if you have the skills or not really.

So if you want to stagedive go for it, you can aim for learning to actually do it later... though I think you might want to not do it off the speakers just yet as I think you might literally hurt your character as in losing health percentage.

I love the concept of smashing instruments as well as there is a kicking over the equipment one but I haven't heard any reports as to if that will actually literally destroy your equipment yet... I'll buy you a new guitar if'n ya wnat to test it out :-D

Stinty hmmm interesting! I think you might get a negative for working on too many songs at once but it may be a loophole... :-k

you have to wait 3 days after you've finished writing one song before you can write another, I think
