Just read this thread and decided to check this game out. Seems Very Interesting but kind of confusing when you first start.

Check out the new users hints in our Knowledge Base section on Popomundo and that will help. You can find it by clicking on the nav banner above or here's the link to the Popo Category:

http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/kb ... cat&cat=16

It also has the "conversion chart" so you'll know everyone's names in the game. My character April Sherwood is easy to pick out from the list as mine is the only female character :-p

What is your in-game name? I'll add you to the list. Also Archi's jazz band 'Floyd's Thre Wheel Wagon' if your interested would be a good opportunity for you to play with some other starting players.

If you're in New York I can get you a good job and even help you out to get your started. At the beginning it can be confusing, but start working through the 'Mother's Tasks' and they basically teach you the in's and outs of the game.

Any questions just fire away, there's a reason this thread is so big, because we've all just been trying to figure it out together so someone probably has the answer

Added you to our players list. I'll help you out in Popo in a minute... not sure if you've gotten the "Find Yourself" mother's task yet? They come up in a fairly random order... but if you do them even wehn not listed you still get credit for them :-p

So to start out do this... go to the Community link and click the 'Search' item in the right side of the screen. Enter your own Character Name in the search area. Then enter mine April Sherwood and the other guys from my band as we're all in NYC right now too. Find us and introduce yourself. As you keep interacting (after a certain amount of time you can do actions again) you will get more and more options in your list and once you get to know April more the hug option will come up.

Well gentlemen I can vouch for Mr. Furlong's character, all you NYC popomundians should look him up and say hi, ya can never ahve to many friends right? 8-) Tried to get him to crash course and bought him the standard TBL PopoWelcome gift of a Yoga book

Welcome to the game Gavin/Stillblind let us know if you have any questions :help:

I was wondering does downloading music illegally affect anything?

Posted: Fri Jan 05, 2007 8:58 pm
by Calv
puts your mood up I think, for some people it also gets them musical seeds. When writing a song using these seeds makes it a better quality of song. Downloading music illegally doesn't do this for everyone, and it certainly doesn't do it for me! ](*,)

The seeds are random, sometomes you get them sometimes you don't. I think Calv's character Cy is just unlucky and our bandmate Jeb is very lucky in this regard. April seems to do fairly well, getting seeds well over 50% of the time I'd say. Got one today :joy:

You'll know because it will say "I feel inspired. I should seize this opportunity to write some good music/lyrics." You will then have a seed in your items list. When you use it it will apply to your current song.

We'd thought they gave you lyrics seeds if you were working on lyrics and music seeds if working on a song's melody but I think we were just getting lucky getting the ones we wanted actually because I have April set to write the lyrics of her latest song and I got a music seed from downloading today :-? So I guess the seed type you get really is random :nerd:

As for illegal downloadiing it isn't a "get you thrown in jail" crime but there is always a chance you will get caught and in that case (though it's never happened to any of us to this point) your mood will take a big hit I guess.

My guy doesn't seem to be affected by downloading. I tried it once, but the mood dropped like normal. Though, I have noticed that when "improving skill" at the university, my mood hardly drops at all.

I am (Kyle Guillory) looking for a chef for the resturant, you need basic cooking at one star. I can pay someone 1000$ per week rising to 1600$ when your skills in cooking improve. Any takers.

And if you need a cooking book to learn the cooking skill I can buy it for ya... gossa help a brother out :wtg: That's about as high paying a job as you'll find without buying VIP and getting a CEO job so it's a great opportunity

EDIT:

Anyone know what that white "boost" meter thing on your 'Career' page does? Mine is at 100% and gives me an option to "release boost"... but I have no idea what will happen... :dunno:

I'm playing as well!

I'm in Toronto though, so I can't chill with you cats...

Character name is Stu Chrzas.

Cheers!

Check out the Popo Forum, there was just a thread about it that I posted to so I won't retype it here in detail but you have three options pump your whole repertoire up to 100% for each song, give yourself a Star Quality boost or I forget what it's called but what it does is pump your performance potential up a few levels over what you could normally reach for a few shows. IMHO the rep boost is the best way to go

Cool, I'll add you to the list in the Knowledge Base. Check out the articles on Popo we have there if you haven't already. Eventually you can get a place in NYC too if you want. It's helpful to have friends to interact with in the game, but Toronto is only a jump away so maybe you can come down and visit on weekends 8-)

Just a reminder to the boys in Never Dies... make sure you set up your show for the Competition gig keeping in mind the new show system. You'll have a great crowd and get lotsa cash from this one, make sure you get your songs up to speed. This is when you should use fancy meals etc to pump up your mood temporarily as you'll put on a better show!

Also, I was wondering if you guys would want to come along with TDG on a TBL Tour? We'll be doing a quick run to LA-Mex-Nas and recording after the Comp shows but a few weeks after we'll be hitting the road and it would be fun to have you guys come along! Of course anyone else can come along too... you interested Rory? 8-)

EDIT: I hope that by the time we get back Floyd's will be up to speed to have the money to joinus for the first full TBL Tour! Never Dies should certainly have enough for their own bus then so we'd have two busses leaving each location so hitching along should be no problem.

Dude... I'm doing my April the Kissing Bandit run interacting with all the TBL Popomundians before the next update and I find the band leader of Never Dies at 26 Punk booking a show :-? For a date and time the club April happens to run here in New York had an opening! Not that I couldn't have gotten you an invite to play whenever you want, but you book with the competition? You cut me man...

Just getting on ya a bit is all :-D No big deal really, but know that I can get you a gig any time you want to play  And keep an eye out on the Tour thread as I'll be doing the booking for TDG in a bit and will post the locales you should target for each stop...

So I know this is a no-no...and don't tell anyone at Popo...but I created a 2nd character. It was sucky being in TO with no $$$ and no way to get to NY to hang with you cats.

Hence, Erin Rudrum is born. Erin fronts her own gritty solo act, appropriately named The Redrum. ;)

It's going to be pure female-acoustic-modernrock-awesomeness.

Look me up, I'm in NY!

Cheers.

Having a female character is a lot of fun actually, and easier too because you get more interaction opportunities. Erin will have many many friends lol. You should be okay if you just don't log in to your other character; they just don't want people playing more than one character at once because then you could have a whole band that is me, myself and I and that's not fair. So just stick with Erin and you'll be fine. I'll look ya up in-game in a bit and set you up with some newbie stuff like a Yoga book etc. =D> Welcome to the Big Apple!

 I hate writing songs!! ](*,) After the lastest update I'm at 97% on melody so I have to waste a whole update just to get it to 100% ugh. I've got the lyrics to 80 but it that goes by 5s like Melody has I won't even have it done for the Comp show! Soooo frustrating. And I know, I pain about it every time too... sorry.

Is it just me or do the update seem to not happen as often as they did when we first started playing the game? These days it seems like we're getting 1 per day, maybe a second one late at night.

I think it's mainly just that "a watched pot never boils" kind of thing... you just notice them when you're waiting for them more intently. They're still random like always as far as I know... 1 to 3 a day. I think people saying they've had four actually had one on the slose end of the last day and then one close at the beginning of the next. So If you think you might get four and you get one, it feels worse than if you think you might get three. I don't believe in four update days personally...

It just always seems to be at annoying times, for example I don't want to be outside my apartment when writing so being out for 4 hours for a jam session I switch to a skill and for both of our recent jams I've had updated under 15 minutes after the jam has completed that I "lost" for songwriting. :-x

Yeah, I've had similar cases where I'm set to learn a skill and I'm hanging out at NYU, then I'm pulled away from there for a jam session. I almost always end up getting the update when we're jamming (or doing a show) or I'm not logged on again to move back to NYU before the update.
