Editing teams in a saved game. Possible?

Hey, quick question:
Can I edit teams in an ongoing saved game? I've been playing this one save for over a year now (I'm in 2028), and I'm wondering if I can edit teams in this save. The New York Islanders have filed for bankruptcy (or something like that) so I want to replace them. Is this possible?
I figured I'd ask you guys before I started mucking around.
