Budget Editing Question

Hey all,

For the past month or so I've been dutifully trying to restart a fantasy league project for EHM, but I'm close to giving up on it. Although I do enjoy the game and think it was fantastically built, it is hell to mod :P. I'm on my last bit of patience though, and thought I'd test the pool of knowledge here before wasting any more of my time on the editor and simply waiting for FHM to come out.

My question is about hardcoded team budgets. I'm trying to expand the number of teams possible for editing and such, but have encountered a frustrating snag in that it appears that almost every league's team budget is... hardcoded.

I've had quite a bit of experience playing around with the editor, so by this I mean: (1) regardless of what is changed in the pre-game editor, budgets appear the same in-game (i.e. Canucks are always 39,000,000 budget) and (2) same goes for market size. In addition, while it is possible to change this with the save-game editor, you cannot edit market size with it and I've no idea where it would be for hex editing (so that's not really an option). However, today I replaced most of the Finnish SM-Liiga with Russian teams, gave them heightened budgets and checked them in game... found this problem, edited them per usual with the save game editor and frustratingly the budgets don't even come out like I edited in the save-game editor. They're way off, and in some cases appear to just be random.

Has anyone found a work-around for this? I'm anticipating no but just in case, I thought I'd check.

Thanks,

- Midas

Just a few thoughts on editing and finances...

Last summer with the 1974 database I tried for quite awhile to edit the cap/budgets/salaries of the Russian Elite League without success. Most edits made simply didn't show in game (and 2-2.5 million seemed to be the limit for salary)

I'm thinking you must be able to edit the NHL, at least in terms of increasing the cap/wages, as the Lidas/Manimal updates have been doing so for years (I have read how to change the Team Budgets all the player salary amounts had to basically add up to the new/increased Budget Total, or the Budget changes don't take place)

With the 1974 database I initially left all NHL player salary amounts as "0" but it didn't work out at all! As I recall the computer/game paid out only high/low salaries, with no mid-range amounts...
