2005-06 Toronto Maple Leafs
Kariya - Richards - Gomez
Ruthemaan - Sundin - Dube
Battaglia - Comrie - Nolan
Dingman - Antropov - Tucker
Kaberle - Smith
Jackman - McCabe
Ninnama - Berg
Buhrer - Tellqvist
Ken Hitchcock - HC, Pat Quinn; Ron Francis - AC
I obtained, Kariya, Gomez, Dube, Smith via FA.
Kariya signed cheap at 2.5M/1yr, plus Team Option. I'm probably going to let him go at the end of the season. He is asking for 4.1M/4Y which is too much when compared to his performance.
Gomez, could not come to term with the Devils, so I offered them a couple prospects for his rights. He wanted around 6 Mill/4 Years. After a year of sitting on his butt, he signed on for 575K/Y for 4 years. He has been decent for me.
Dube, wanted around 3M/4 Years. No one went for the bait, and he settled with me for 1M/2 Years, TO. He has turned out to be a great 3rd liner for me, and has potential.
Smith, was agreat signing for me. He agree too 2M/3 Years, TO, plus other insentives. A solid pickup for me. He is in my top two-pairing.

Dämn I'm bored! It's 9:30 am, I've been up since 2 am, cause night shift totally messed up my day rhythm. I'm drinking beer, but just won't get drunk. Nor sure if I even want to, but hey, maybe then I wouldn't be bored. Here's my lines with Espoo for the 06/07 season, just about to start:
J. Ylönen - Lohjala - Spets
Jones - Jäske - Caloun
Nieminen - Kangasniemi - Elomo
Kalto - Immonen - Filppula
Laatikainen - Tölli
Sulku - Alanko
Caslava - Bauer
Heikkinen - A. Ylönen
Heinonen - Vuorio
Defence pairings play equal ice times, cause they are all pretty good :clapping:
Left of the original Blues 03/04 are:
Juha Ylönen, Jan Caloun, Niko Nieminen, Teemu Elomo, Kari Kalto, Jarkko A. Immonen, Arto Laatikainen, Sebastian Sulku, Rami Alanko and goalie Sami Heinonen.
LOL! So many typos...

(fixed now)

Ovechkin - Crosby - Kariya
Tverdovsky - Hamrlik
Koivu - Lindros - Bobby Ryan
Souray - Boynton
Steve Begin - Craig Conroy - Pierre Dagenais
Vladimir Markov - Brad Ference
then shifting alot of youngsters in the fourth line but I have Ribeiro, Corey Locke and Jan Kolar
Goalies

In my first two seasons I played Kariya Koivu Selänne and won two Hart Trophies with Selänne but I traded him and Martin Straka to get the #1 draftpick for 2005 from Carolina. And yes, I got the first pick and SidneyCrosby.

Well, it's the beggining of the 08/09 season and i am the Blue Jays, i won the cup in 2005 with no really special additions, i.e. mainly Nash, Zherdev, Vyborny were my main men....
Won it again in 2008 and i have a very European looking team....
Vyborny-Crosby-Zherdev
Kukumberh-Thoreson-Hassinen
Rutheman*-Persson*-Konawalchuk
Belak-Rucchin*-Leclerc*
Klesla-Witt
Mitchell*-Norstrom
Berg-Axelsson
Kahbibulin-Krahn*
the guys with a * are new to the line-up this season, well Persson was in the cup winning team but played most of the season with Syracuse...
None of the Europeans are regens...all picked out by me and drafted, except Axelsson, he was already drafted and playing the AHL, so i traded for him!!
Vyborney has been a revelation! in his Blue Jays career he has 412 points from just 609 games, and in the last 4 years has 258 points from 298 games!!
Kukumberg has been a consistant producer, with 246 points in 309 games!
Zherdev has 285 from 366 including 28 from 82 in his first season...
Sid was great in his rookie year with 90 points, but hasnt got back up there with 81 and then 59 last time out, but he had a nasty season with missing 12 games at the start and had a 15 game pointless streak in it!
Witt is my captain, he is a rock! I have also had Steve Thomas, Ron Francis (both retired before season started !!) Lemieux, Scott Stevens and Chelios as my leaders...!

Nice lineup you got there!
Hassinen is also at my team in the Finnish SM League, and he's my MVP and captain for about 6 years in a row. He's reputation is at "superb". He's also very big in Finnish hockey IRL.
Steve Konowalchuck and Brendan Witt are my fav players from Washington Caps (my NHL fav team). Kono doesn't play there anymore, but he's still a favourite.
And welcome to the forum!

Apologies if it is all jumbled and hard to understand....
Basically they were awesome!!
Add to that list Peter Prucha who was up and down all season due to injuries, he got 8+11=19 from 28 games, and Rene Carniege he got 3+5=8 from 15
at the start of the season i was conceding lots but scoring even more!!
I hade a 10-8 games Vs Colorado in which i went 3-0 down, 4-3 up, 8-7 down, only to win 10-8!! (Krahns first and last start, he let in 8 off 22 shots...was then sent to Dayton in the ECHL)
I ended the season much slower than i started it but Khabibulin was getting real tired!! and Markannen isn't very good...
Now to retain Lord Stanleys Cup!!

I'm not, by the way, trying to become the best. I play within the logical side. So no, one side trade or a bunch of players for 1 round pick. (a.k.a trying to get Ovechkin or Crosby in the real world in near to impossible, no sane GM would do the trade unless it's one on one.) So that's why i'm not that good =P

Kucera-Young-Kessel
Modin-Zancanaro-Kolar

I now have 4 straight cup wins, and going strong for the 5th .
My main men has mainly been Ovechkin and Nokelainen.
-Ovechkin has 644 points in 497 games, with a season record of 145 pts. 80 goals and 65 assists.
-Nokelainen has produced 657 pts in 515 games, with a season record of 123 pts. 55 goals and 68 assists.
- Martin has been the strongest defender for me. 2 time runner up for Norris trophy. And a total of 284 pts in 405 games since he came to Chicago.
- Colton Gillies came in last season because of major injury problems. And he played awesome . 51 goals and 40 assist in only 50 games!

I can't resist, I have to pay tribute to my current team for the spectacular season they played this season 2010-11.
I won the regular season, getting 83 points, while the next one (Tappara) had only 71 points. My first line: Hassinen, Pakaslahti, Aarnio took the first three positions in league points.
The teams only weakness is it's age. I'll put my players ages after their names so you'll see how old they are.
Also I can't resist taking screenshots of my first line and putting links here
This is not the same game, as on my earlier posts here, but it's still the Blues.
Forwards:
Antti Aarnio (29) - Petri Pakaslahti (35) - Jani Hassinen (35)
Antti Laaksonen (37) - Olli Ahonen (31) - Ilkka Pikkarainen (29)
Teemu Elomo (32) - Miikka Kovanen (21) - Niko Nieminen (28 )
Jesse Saarinen (25) - Kari Kalto (32) - Timo Salonen (34)
Defence:
Mika Niskanen (37) - Julien Vauclair (30)
Mikko Sairanen (29) - Juha Hämäläinen (20)
Mattias Timander (36) - Rami Alanko (35)
Lauri Laine (18 ) - Ville Hyrkäs (31)
Goalies:
Stefan Liv (30)
Jaakko Suomalainen (32)
And here are screenshots of my first line players (look at the stats!):
Aarnio:

Hassinen:

I'll be back here to glow if I win the title (for the first time! It would be about fekking time!)

Well, I'm not sure if I'm doing a right thing posting my squad... But there is some logic in this, 'cause to compare u need some very good staff and some bad staff, the upper and lower borders. So here's the lower border:
Pittsbourg Pinguins season 2007/2008:
Valeri Bure - Alex Yashin - Alex Morozov (yep, Russian line - no comments)
Anson Carter - Milan Kraft - Ryan Malone
(bought Carter for fun, but it seems he's pretty good)
Shawn Weller - Lars Eric Spets - Arron Asham
(Weller's a last season discovery - technique is lackin' but superb physics)
Bates Battaglia - Yevgeni Malkin - Chris Beech
Also injured is Jan Kolar
Josef Melichar - Brooks Orpik
Dale Purinton - Karel Rachunek
Jeff Reid - Andrew Ference
To my suprise, in first 20 games things are not goin' bad as always; the record is 26 GP: 14-6-5-1. But I'm sure there'll be injuries and all and like in other seasons I'll fall. Actually, last two seasons I made it to playoff, but both times was beaten in 1st round in 4 games. You see the type of looser you're messin' with?
