This is really bugging me. In my first season I finished 13th in the Western Conference with the Wild. But my players +/- was out of control, all of my players got to - double figures apart from Gaborik who was my top scorer. It just really annoys me and I thought Id share my anger considering theres nothing I can do because I am only the GM of my team.

You could have the greatest team in the world and still have all of them as minuses. It's your tactics, and how they fit into your coachs coaching style, and your players playing style that matters.
For instance, guys like Semin and Jagr would never fit in on Calgary because they can't play defense for ****.
Another example is Martin St Louis or Daniel Briere would never fit in with the Philly Flyers, as there not bit and strong enough for the Flyer's 'crash the net' style of play.
Its probably best to base your team around one particular strategy, and only pick up players (with a few exceptions) that would fit into that style.
For instance, my Monstreal Canadiens team is based around having a very speedy offensive team, with alot od depth at centre. I have scoring from my 1st, 2nd and 4th line, with my 3rd line being hard-hitting defensive guys.
