Goalie guides

I was talking with Vikke, one led to another and somehow ended talking about who is the tallest/shortes goalie out there. Well Koshechkin won that one with Bierk losing by 5 centimeters. Anyway that lead me to do some goalie guides. So did some. I know the measurements are only in metric system, but I'll update them later with the imperial ones. I'll make some more in the future.
Martin Brodeur – New Jersey Devils
Born: 6.5.1972
Height: 187 cm
Weight: 95 kg
Catches: Left
Salary: 5.5 million $
Contract left: 2 years
Merits: 2 Vezina Trophies, 4 Jennings Trophies, Calder Trophy in 1993-94, 3 Stanley Cups
Brodeur is a goalie that every team would like to have. He is a superb goaltender in every aspect and probably the best goalie in the world when it comes to stickhandling. He very experienced both in regular season games and in playoffs. He can play almost the whole NHL regular season. Cool as a cucumber.
Roberto Luongo – Florida Panthers
Born: 4.4.1979
Height: 190 cm
Weight: 92 kg
Catches: Left
Salary: 3.2 million $
Contract left: 1 year
Merits: 2004 World Cup winner
Luongo is a tall and big goaltender with great skills. He catches the high shots easily, but saves low pucks very well for a man of his size. Reads the play very well and is positionally sound. He is a very consistent goalie who does very well in the regular season. He hasn't seen much NHL playoff hockey, so his playoff performance is a bit question mark. He can play almost the whole NHL regular season.
Nikolai Khabibulin – Chicago Blackhawks
Born: 13.1.1973
Height: 185 cm
Weight: 94 kg
Catches: Left
Salary: 6.25 million $
Contract left: 4 years
Nicknames: Bulin Wall, Khabby
Merits: Stanley Cup in 2003-04, Olympic gold in 1992, Olympic bronze in 2002, IHL MVP in 1999-00
Khabibulin is probably the best active Russian goaltender right now. He is very acrobatic and agile starting goalie who can win many games. Overally good in every aspect, but he gives too many rebounds. He certainly isn't the most loyal goalie and wants to be paid well. He can play almost the whole NHL regular season and he did quite well in the 2003-04 Stanley Cup playoffs, thus becoming the first ever Russian born Stanley Cup winner.
Dominik Hasek – Ottawa Senators
Born: 29.1.1965
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 91 kg
Catches: Left
Salary: 1.5 million $
Contract left: 1 year
Nicknames: Dominator
Merits: 6 Vezina Trophies, 2 Hart Trophies, Stanley Cup in 2001-02 and Olympic gold in 1998
Hasek is probably the best european born goaltender ever. He has totally unique goaltending style that can't be really explained. He just seems to keep the puck out his net one way or another. He is very agile, moves well and is positionally sound. His only problem is his age. He isn't as good as he used be a few years ago. His reflexes aren't as good as they used to be has become quite injury prone over the years. However, he still is a great starting goaltender who works hard to bring wins for the team. Dominator is very experience in regular season and playoffs.
Miikka Kiprusoff – Calgary Flames
Born: 26.10.1976
Height: 187 cm
Weight: 86 kg
Catches: Left
Salary: 3.3 million $
Contract left: 3 years
Nicknames: Kipper
Merits: Urpo Ylönen trophy in 1998-99, Jari Kurri trophy in 1998-99, 2004 World Cup of Hockey runner up
Kiprusoff is a solid product of TPS goaltending school. His skills are overally very good, exceptional glove hand, good movement and agility. After the trade from San Jose, he quickly became the starter of Calgary Flames and led the team to Stanley Cup final in 2003-04. His best asset is his nerves of steel. He is very focused, keep his head cool and he doesn't crumble after setbacks. He is still developing and getting experienced. Like many european born goalies, he could use more practise in stickhandling.
Jose Theodore – Montreal Canadiens/Colorado Avalanche
Born: 13.9.1976
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 81 kg
Catches: Left
Salary: 4.5 million $
Contract left: 3 years
Nicknames: Theo
Merits: Vezina Trophy in 2001-02, Hart Trophy in 2001-02
Theodore is a very agile goalie with good movement and reflexes. He makes great and flashy saves every now and then. When he has good day, he is an elite NHL goalie. Although he overally a quite good goalie, he has problems that are typical of a relatively small butterfly style goaltender. When goes down he leaves too much space in the top corners due to his small frame. He has some problems with focusing and pressure handling, thus sometimes letting in easy goals.
Ed Belfour – Toronto Maple Leafs
Born: 21.4.1965
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 91 kg
Catches: Left
Salary: 4.6 million $
Contract left: 1 year
Nicknames: Eddie the Eagle
Merits: Calder Trophy in 1990-91, Trico Goaltender Award in 1990-91, 2 Vezina Trophies, 3 Jennings Trophies, Roger Crozier Award in 1999-00, Stanley Cup in 1998-99, Olympic gold in 2002
Despite his age Belfour is still an overally good NHL starting goalie. He is very competent and wants to learn from his mistakes. He can win big matches and is fairly consistent. He can play most of the NHL regular season and playoffs. He has very much experience from both regular season and playoffs.

Height: 182 cm
Weight: 88 kg
Catches: Left
Salary: 3.4 million $
Contract left: 1 year
Nicknames:
Merits: Calder Trophy in 2000-01
Nabokov is overally good goalie who works hard and likes to play alot. He likes to play near the net and not go out to play the puck. However, his positioning has more to do with his lack of stickhandling and passing. Also his blocker side is much weaker than his glove hand. He also isn't the most consistent goaltenders out there.
Marty Turco – Dallas Stars
Born: 13.8.1975
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 82 kg
Catches: Left
Salary: 3.2 million $
Contract left: 1 year
Nicknames: Turks
Merits: IHL Rookie of the Year in 1998-99, 2 Roger Crozier Awards
Turco is a solid NHL starting goaltender. He is agile, acrobatic, has very a very good glove hand and playes the puck very well. His style reminds Martin Brodeurs style, especially the stickhanling skills. Hotheaded Turco is easily provoked and in goaltender standards he is quite prone to stupid penalties, because of his temperament. Has experience is mostly from regular season, but he also has some experience from a couple of playoff games.
Tomas Vokoun – Nashville Predators
Born: 2.7.1976
Height: 182 cm
Weight: 89 kg
Catches: Right
Salary: 2.3 million $
Contract left: 1 year
Nicknames:
Merits:
Vokoun is an overally solid NHL calibre starter. He is agile, works hard, positions well and his moves are hard to predict by the opposing forwards. His best asset is his phenomenal glove hand. His stickhandling isn't very good compared to some North American goalies. He can play very well in streaks, but he can also slump, thus losing his concentration.
Chris Osgood – Detroit Red Wings
Born: 26.11.1972
Height: 177 cm
Weight: 80 kg
Catches: Left
Salary: 0.9 million $
Contract left: 1 year
Nicknames:
Merits: Jennings Trophy in 1996, 2 Stanley Cups
Osgood is a relatively small NHL goalie, but he is quick and agile. He earned his reputation in Detroit and returned to Detroit after playing a couple of seasons in Islanders and Blues. He has no big weaknesses, but his work ethic could use a boost and sometimes lets in easy goals. Currently his role is working as a backup goalie.
Curtis Joseph – Phoenix Coyotes
Born: 29.4.1967
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 86 kg
Catches: Left
Salary: 0.9 million $
Contract left: 1 year
Nicknames: CuJo
