Toronto Defense Problems?

Alright so I'm in my second season with the Leafs, and I'm in November. My team has 60 Goals for, which is the most in the league. My team also has 54 Goals against, which is the second highest amount. So in conclusion, my defense is horrible. My pairings are:
Kaberle McCabe
J. Johnson Pilar
Colaiacovo Wozniewski
My goalies are Belfour and Ward.
What am I doing wrong that could make them suck so bad?

I'd say its a 96.34563723% chance its your tactics. You should probably make sure all your defensemen have 'hard' backchecking and 'defensive' playing style. The other options vary from player to player (hard hitting for McCabe, carry puck: yes for Kaberle comes to mind.)

I could make a joke about the Maple Leafs, but I won't.
Check your tactics, like Tom said: "96.34563723% chance it's your tactics."

Well, in my case it was actually the opposite. Easy backchecking was the key. As a wise man from these boards once told me, "let the coach take over a couple of games and see what he does." It worked like a charm for me. I went from 14th in the East to a fight for 6th place with Buffalo and rising.
In any case, it opened up an option I hadn't considered.

Wonder who that was.
