Okay, so while I'm still progressing through to get to the draft, I've also been looking at some of the history of what's gone on in the 10 years that were simmed past.
The Bruins didn't have a Stanley Cup FInals appearance during that time. At the trade deadline of the 2023/2024 season, they traded away a very good looking (basically their star player from the trade deadline of the 2017/2018 season on) MacKinnon for a decent but not spectacular young defenseman. To originally get MacKinnon they traded Voracek (who was a UFA signing). They not only got MacKinnon out of that deal but also got the Avs' 1st round pick. Eriksson was traded away from the team at some point back came back as a UFA. Tyler Seguin came back as a UFA for a couple years. They got robbed when they traded Bergeron. I think it was a salary dump. And the two most common places to find current real life Bruin players in this save? Vancouver and Toronto! Who would have thought?

Wow...this team has some SERIOUS HOLES. Down the middle is terrible. The small D, the ridiculous lack of RW.
LOL at where former Bruins have been.
I am looking at it,but have not simmed yet.
I hate the coaching staff. Am I allowed to make an assistant the head guy right now, or do I have to wait?
Scouting staff is actually pretty decent.
I need to go re read the rules....
And so many guys that they were going to let go....not offered deals. They would have had like 10 guys under contract of which only about 5 are NHL calibre players.

I didn't find the scouting staff to be too good. I think I found 2 or 3 guys to be usable. The coaching staff is pretty bad. Unfortunately, we have to wait 6 months before replacing the head coach.
Before looking at his current state, I was excited about having Parise. Not so much no. He's ancient and physically shouldn't be playing in any hockey games outside of an over-35 beer league! I'm not going to re-sign him. I did re-sign Eriksson and Brouwer to 1 year deals. They'll be "bridge" players. I think I'll be putting out a very young and inexperienced lineup. We've actually got some decent young goalies in the system from what I see so far.
Oh and the Capitals seem to have a sick amount of talent. They're in the Stanley Cup Finals in my game.

2 or 3 is more than normal.. LOL.
I am not going to resign Parise, plus he has no interest in re signing. Looks like wants to retire.
I have qualified every one of the RFAs. Not all will sign, but ....
Eriksson and Brouwer have offers as well.
yeah the young goalies are okay. Bernier is getting an offer too.
Caps are ridiculous.
And the Bs traded away all their defense and centres at the deadline. No wonder it looks so bad.

Oh and in my board confidence update, the board tells me "Steven Stamkos would be a nice addition to the team". No sh!t, Sherlock!

LOL. THe board stuff can be hilarious.
So this is what I want to do...tell me if I can
1. Fire A Coach Whitesides.
2. Offer Kealty contract as AGM.(promote)
3. offer Benning contract as scout (demote)
4. offer Morin contract as head coach (promote)
Fire 2 scouts, and hire 2 more (waiting til after Jul 1 to do the scout part)
First four I want to do IMMEDIATELY, last one later.

This team scares me, its so bad. Resigned everyone except Parise, Schenn, Anisimov and Brouwer. Actually wanted to resign Schenn and Anisimov but Schenn didn't want to sign and Anisimov retired

Some real good talent around though so rebuild from the ground up i guess... What scares me the most is that after the draft the board told me they expect us to get to the Stanley Cup Finals

How they expect us to do that i have no idea
Team obviously has problems when the biggest threat going forward is Pontus Ã…berg
Got Herman Dicks as #6 in the draft, looks like a good prospect and a future captain, giving him a look at the start of the season but probably sending him back to juniors.

Most of that is okay. The part with the head coach is where it gets a bit hairy. The rules state that you must have had the incoming head coach under contract for 6 months before becoming head coach. With this being a simmed ahead game, we've got staff that have been under contract for 6 months but that's not really the spirit of the rule. It's intended to be 6 months from the start of the game. It really should be re-worded.
So in essence? No, you can't make Morin the head coach.

Okay, no worries on that then. I will leave Kealty there for um....6 months. LOL.
So no one can really change the head coach off the start of the game until November 14 2024 is what you are saying. It is either Kealty or you take over as GM/Head Coach until November 14 2024
But I can hire an assistant right now to replace Whitesides.
With what I wanted to do, if i cannot hire a replacement from my staff for Kealty, I cannot do the numbered moves, other than bring in a totally different AGM, (Would actually fire Benning in that case, and leave the rest as is.
Will hire 3 new scouts now, fire 2 later. Hire a new AGM and new assistant coach.

That's probably your best course of action.

Have you checked out the Jets D?
McDonough, Subban, Faulk, Maata, Trouba, Joe Morrow (Who we dealt for prospects and is a total stud).
And Joacim Eriksson on Vancouver? Maybe just a bit too good. LOL. I mean come on he is no Lehner.
Rags with Price in net, and Suter, Bouwemeester and a guy named Rasmus Anderson, who is a stud on the blue line. Plus a good Smid and Luke Schenn? Then RNH, Hagelin, Callahan, Jeff Carter, a super regen Benovic up front.
Wow 4 pretty stacked teams in the Stanley Cup semi finals.

Yeah, it's going to be an uphill battle to win a Cup with this team.

Yeah. So THE BOSTON BRUINS OF BEASTIE BOY...are proud to announce.
1. Our new Assistant GM--From Ornskoldsvik Sweden--Peter Forsberg.
2. Our new Scouts...from Vasteras Sweden....Nicklas Lidstrom, from Edmonton Alberta Jim Benning, and from Welland Ontario, Samuel Bergin.
More changes will be made to scouting staff AFTER the draft, and will be looking at hiring one assistant coach after the draft to replace the FIRED loser we had.

After 2 weeks, changed my mind. Fired Bentley and Pierre Leach. They got a scout in of Boston and Providence for me, and now they are done.

I got him too! Where did you pick? I ended up 7th overall. Carolina won the lottery and moved up ahead of me, bumping me down to 7th. I got a couple other picks that could turn out decent too.

I picked him as #6, will give him a shot at the start of the first season and send him down if it doesn't work out. If he works out then he will be my captain, my Landeskog

Alright, so I haven't played a challenge in a while. This one looks interesting though. I think I'm going to have to give this one a go. I haven't looked over the team yet, but from how you guys are talking it doesn't sound like anybody makes the playoffs this year.
