i just got the game, so i'm not too educated on the inner workings, but i'm wondering with the vast amount of files for the game, why someone doesn't combine all of them into one file, with included cfg files that have all the information required. so that it's all stock with all of that stuff, instead of adding/amending things all over the place you just replace it with one that has everything.. i keep messing up my game trying to add things because i have no idea what i'm doing. heh

Most addons simply require files being copied into the appropriate folders and so problems should not occur.
The backgrounds do require a small amount of editing of the pics.cfg file but it's fairly straightforward.
Maybe I'll write a tutorial on how to install the various types of addons.

If there's any particular problems that you're having then please let me know and I'll do my best to help.

no no, i figured it out. i just meant specifically on the hassle of doing so many updates individually is why i was wondering why someone didn't just do a "megapack" so to speak, i made one with all the ones i added, but it's like 80mb.

It could be done but I think it would seriously slow down the site. Not to mention the fact that we'd probably exceed our bandwidth!

I had the idea (just in my head) to make a CD with all the 'best' downloads and to sell them (something like 3€ for the CD and 2€ for shipping). It could be good for ppl who don't have fast internet and also help reducing our traffic...
Also earning some money to pay the site (well, I don't pay that much, but...)

That's a little dodgey because we'd be making money out of people's work. Not to mention that the creators of the addons may not have asked for copyright permission.
I wouldn't recommend anyone try doing that.

yeah, just an idea, not that i would do it (dont really have the time)
but i'm sure it would be nice to have something like that (and i know that you have to ask for the copyright)

a "the sims" website once made something like that, i got a copy here... it's quite nice. but i still don't have the time to do it

and also: i must make this player selection! i had to do it 2 months ago
