Excuse My Ignorance

Hey EHM community! Some of you may know me from Operation Sports. I am the co-creator of the Revamped Rosters for EA's NHL series. In the Revamped Rosters, we created more player separation between all of the players since EA's rosters just clump everyone together at around 80 overall. I have done so many player ratings over the past 3 years that I feel like I know these players better than their own mothers. I determined every players rating based off of multiple scouting reports and by simply watching them on TV and online. I looked at every single attribute for every single player without cutting corners. So when I was providing ratings for a 4th line AHL scrub who will never see the NHL, you can bet that he will play like his true-to-life self.

Due to multiple disappointments with that "other" hockey series, I have looked toward greener pastures. When I saw that EHM came back, I immediately jumped on it because I've heard nothing but good things about this series.

But, excuse my ignorance everybody, I have never played the game before. I would love to either make my own roster update or help out anyone else with their rosters. I am just wondering how rosters work in this game. Like what is the attribute scale (like 1-99)? What attribute ranges do NHL players generally have? AHL players? CHL players? What kind of player separation is there? Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance everybody! I'm excited to get back into some roster updating.

Welcome aboard :) Manimal is the head roster guy and I'm betting he or one of the other roster crew will be on this pretty fast  :-D

Welcome to The Blue Line! I'm a big fan of your work. The Revamped rosters have been my go-to rosters for the EA NHL series. I'm still sticking with NHL 13 owing to how little the game changed with 14 and then how 15 was so pared back in many ways. Your rosters are so much better than the ones that ship with the game. :notworthy:

Try dropping a PM to Manimal. He's pretty snowed under, but I'm certain he will get back to you as soon as he can. It'd be great to have you on board.

FYI most of the editing is actually done in spreadsheets (e.g. attribute changes, contract changes and create new players/staff, etc). We then import the spreadsheets into the database using a tool we have. So it's pretty straightforward doing the editing. We have various guidance we can share with you to help (the scale used is 1-20 for attributes and 1-200 for the overall Current Ability and Potential Ability ratings).

Hello Simple Mathematics! Welcome to TBL. :-)

I was the one in charge of the NHL players attribute updates the past couple of years. The players attributes as they are right now are based on EHM07. So players might..or I'm pretty sure they act differently now in the new EHM. So this requires a lot of testing and editing.

Right now I won't bother editing anything or looking what players over-performs etc. as the game is new and a lot of things will change.

Maybe the OHL and/or the QMJHL?

Along with the retro work (1974/1998 DBs) I do I've been helping out with the TBL Rosters doing Major Junior for quite awhile now; the last couple years I've been updating all three leagues and it was "to much" but we lacked researchers at the time so I just did the best I could. I figured/hoped we'd get some offers of more help with the release of EHM:EA and so I've said I'll just do the WHL from now on...so the OHL/QMJHL are "available"

I'm looking forward to just focusing on one modern league! Having more help with the TBL Rosters is great news!

Such an exciting/happy time! :geek:

OHL is covered.

QMJHL or AHL needs some work.
Or maybe you follow some other league and you want to work with that

Thanks for the replies everyone! I wasn't that involved with the CHL in the Revamped Rosters. We had a few Canadian guys on our team that followed the CHL closely who handled that. I mainly handled the NHL and AHL. Any help that you guys need I'd be glad to do. Maybe if you wanted me to just take a look at everything as a whole and give my suggestions on some ratings that I would change? Let me know guys. Thanks for accepting me into the family!
