EHM The Blue Line

Hi to all,

First of all, sorry if the question was already raised, however I have not managed to find exactly the same question here.
The question is - I have just uploaded last update in steam and it seems to me that there is existing rosters in all NHL teams (I see a lot of Russians in Chicago for example etc.), however they all have fake names. Is it possible to fix this keeping current rosters, so only names to be changed, or to see real names I need to update rosters to previous season. But, obviously this will lead to changes in rosters, so no Panarin in Chicago, no McDavid in Oilers etc.

So is there a way, how to cnahge players names to real ones, but keep current rosters from the last steam update?

No quick fix for that is possible.

Just hopped in to say it's well worth the wait. You guys have always done a great job of creating the rosters and keeping the community alive. So thanks for all the effort!

Why doesn't the game come with actual rosters anyway? Is it a licencing issue? If so how is the other top sim game on the market able to include the game with rosters which also does not have an NHL licence?

I've been wondering about this myself.
FHM has rosters for 'Complete 2015-2016 rosters for over 300 teams across 21 professional leagues' according to their web site.
I personally haven't bought this new one, but i did buy and play the first one, and that one had correct rosters.

I read an interview on sportsnet about the first FHM (http://www.sportsnet.ca/590/got-game/wh ... y-manager/) where one of the developers talks about the rosters:

Q: How is it that you can offer the complete 2013-14 rosters for over 300 teams across 19 leagues? I thought EA Sports locked all that stuff up for their NHL games.

A: We don't have a licensing agreement with the league, which means we can't use things like official logos or player likenesses - not that big a loss in a game that's mostly about text and stats.

This is a bit strange, there's something about this whole licensing thing i don't get.

The licensing thing is pretty straightforward. If a team, league or any other name is a registered trademark then you cannot make money from it without the permission of the person that holds the trademark. A licence is effectively a contract saying "yes you can use my trademark in a particular product". Trademarks can protect various things such as words, images/logos, smells (by way of chemical formulae) and even colours.

You might remember OOTP got into trouble with the MLB for using team/league names in OOTP. Hence why the team names were then randomised until they obtained a licence (and hence EHM 2004 - 2007 had licences).

Might aswell ask this here instead of making a new thread.

Which DBs work to import after the EHM:EA update to the 15/16 start date? I tried importing the UUDB6.1 and it did not work.

Yes you can. They work as long as the team & player name /DOB stays the same. But I'll update the facepack and logo pack once the new TBL Rosters are released.

Only 3 days left in the month of October! I'm very much looking forward to the updated roster database and I hope its not delayed!

I'm doing final touches on the NHL as we speak. I intend to send the completed work to Manimal in a couple of hours..

Hey CJ, I found a very easy way to get HD cutouts of NHL players.

If you go to the yahoo fantasy website and inspect element any of the players faces you get a link.

for example, here's Ryan Johanssen: https://s.yimg.com/xe/i/us/sp/v/nhl_cut ... 1/4964.png

Oh I didn't know about that site. And jesus that surely is HD!
But I found a similar site which gives me the same result so I'm good. Thanks for the tip!

Hello Nelphir,

We are working on the rosters. Unfortunately most of us are volunteering for certain leagues (I.E. I am doing OHL Western Conference). The updates can be downloaded in other forums on here. We will have an update tomorrow with rosters (most likely but not certain), but the actual names will be on a different download. As soon as I am done implementing names into the database, I will be sending it to the moderater, in which, he will send the new updated one in the new database. An accurate database download for Major Junior hockey will be in shortly.

The rosters will be out when they are out. I have seen nothing that says anything about tomorrow. Just before October ends was the best guess of Manimal.

I think you misunderstood that. Today is the final deadline for researchers to send in their work.
The work needs to be imported and checked for errors, too

I was just curious as to whether there is a default roster (completely unchanged) with correct names? I've checked the roster download list and it wasn't readily apparent.

The default rosters are essentially the TBL Rosters but with faked names. So just download the v8.0a TBL Rosters.

Ok thanks a lot archibalduk. I just thought that there were a lot of changes to the TBL Rosters in terms of CA and PA. I also read that if there is too much talent in the game at the start it may affect future drafts? So I just wanted to play with no changes to see how the default rosters balance in terms of future talent.

No, there is no big difference between default and 8.0 rosters
