Asia Ice Hockey

I'm trying out Nippon in the AIHL. It's quite a change when trades are not part of the process and the team is losing money. I'm sitting in 5th place and a team I loaned an extra player to just jumped me in the standings. I was trying to find ways to save money. I attracted some solid and cheap foreign talent but it's quite a fine process to sell or drop current talent just before a possible incoming contract gets set. Any delays cause cancellations.
I need to exchange some expensive players for cheaper but better players in a league that seems to range from 7K to 40K or so salaries. My budget is just under 380K.
Very intriguing.
I need to master the scouting system.

Do you want to set the team to break even as a personal challenge or have the board told you to get the player salaries under control? Just curious as I've never had a team losing money before (though I'm planning to try a Bracknell Bee's game in the English Premier League to try that experience, and they have some players I like on their roster as well)

As far as I'm aware... as long as YOU aren't overspending on salaries then even if the team is losing money you won't get the blame for it. The board will either leave or pay off the debts at the end of each season.

Might give the Asia League a try, but I'll probably end up making ice-logos for it!

I guess I just felt responsible. I really don't know what happens when you lose too much money. I didn't quite figure out exactly what made money and lost money. There did seem to be improvement when I removed staff.

That is useful information!
I think I got things under control and ended up losing in the semi-finals 3 games to 1. My highest scorer was a Canadian named Wacey Rabbit.
It was fun . Played out one full season and then back to the NHL for now. Looking to try the British league or something else as well.
