Is there some trick or formula to get players to sign long term? It seems like no one is interested in signing more then 3-5 years even with increased yearly salary. It feel very unrealistic that i cant sign my top players to 6-8 year contracts.

If I speak for myself the longest I signed a player is 5 years IIRC.

It also depends on the league your in. I currently play a EIHL team on EHM 2005, I don't think I can get a player for 6-8 years on that.

I play in the NHL and i've signed one of my star players for 6 years so it's working for me. Didn't try 8 .

You're not alone there! I'm in my 4th season now in the EIHL and the longest amount of time I've been able to tie a player down for is 4 years. Even that was when I gave the player a decent pay rise year after year (around £5k). The weird thing though, is that a lot of these players who refuse to sign a new deal are quite happy to sign up again on less money once they've left...
