EHM The Blue Line

This question popped into my head while reading another thread but I figured I would start a new one in case someone else was looking for the same info.

If I make an offer to a player, let's say, and I notice other teams are making offers as well and I decide I want to change my offer to add a higher signing bonus or more per year, do I need to withdraw my original offer and offer a new one, or is there another way to just revise the original offer?

If I do this, are there any negatives as far as the player's reaction to me for withdrawing a bid? I've noticed in EHM05 they will get upset if you offer them a "fringe" status when they are expecting a higher status and then you can't change that even with a new bid and now they aren't interested anymore.

First of all the "level" of contract you offer them is a different issue all together. If you've got a current offer with a player you will not be able to change the "level" for example Fringe to Core until I think it's a week or so goes buy.

Back to the original question though; I've cancelled and then given higher offers to both players and coaches when a bidding war has erupted and haven't noticed any kind of negatives from it. I usually put out a basic offer until I see that other teams have entered the bidding actually. Cancelling and re-offering though is the only way I know of to do it.

The only renegotioation I know of in the game is when you have an active trade offer that hasn't been accepted or rejected yet. In that case you can go to a player on the other team that is involved in the pending offer and select 'Change Trade Offer'. There is no such option for contracts to free agents (players or coaches) though.

That's good to know. I was always a little confused by the "withdraw offer" button as it has this air of finality to it. Thanks for the tips.

Good point It can be affected especially if you've signed someone between the time you made your offer and the time you remove the offer to re-offer. This is usually not an issue with staff members but it can catch you if you have a lot of free agent offers out. I am usually only targeting one or two players so it hasn't been much of an issue for me in the past.
