EHM being detected as a trojan?

Has anyone else run into this issue? I was just playing EHM a day or two ago without issue. Tonight, I fired up my laptop and my Norton software says it blocked a trojan and identified EHM as the culprit. So I uninstalled EHM and installed again. I try to launch EHM and it's blocked again.

Any ideas?

Yeah, uninstall norton :)

Really though, I've been without, so called, anti-virus software for years. I don't think it protects you from anything, rather the opposite.

Bit of a strange one that, I know Anti Virus programs can sometimes act in strange ways, especially if the .exe has been modified in anyway, but I wouldn't have thought so with just the standard EHM .exe.

The only thing I could think off, to stop it from flagging up in the future is to add it to the Norton exception list. Or contact Norton and see if they can come up with any ideas as to why it would randomly start flagging up?

I'm saying this without being tongue-in-cheek: uninstall Norton.

Norton is the worst. I'm not the least bit surprised Norton would detect EHM as a trojan. Symantec (the company that owns the Norton line) is just the worst, they continually flag things that are fine, while then missing obvious actual viruses and trojans and letting them in. And I say that having experience both with Norton and with Symantec's enterprise offerings (Symantec's enterprise stuff is basically like not having any protection at all, if you want me to be honest). I know some small PC repair shops that actually consider Norton malware, and tell clients that unless they agree to remove it, they won't work on their machines. It's that problematic. Very shoddy, lazy detection algorithms.

Use AVG, or Avast, or Avira instead. All are good, and free, options. All 3 are options I have used personally and recommended professionally to others. AVG and Avast in particular I have years of experience with using personally. Avira is a lighter-weight one that is betetr on lower-spec systems. You should never pay for anti-virus software though, for sure. Between those good free options, and also free MalwareBytes (which you can have installed alongside all these other ones)....

I have same issue. Norton give me result that ehm.exe includes Trojan.Gen.8. Then Norton had placed it in quarantine and if I return this file back. Norton blocks it again. Now I cant play this game. ](*,)

Can't you create an exception for the .exe? There surely must be a way.. I haven't see AV without it

Maybe I was too hasty with this issue. When I have more time to check out Norton's settings I found a place where I can create exceptions for ehm.exe. Thanks anyway!

I just found it strange that after all this time, it just suddenly decided to flag it. So strange.

It might be as a result of a definition update in Norton.

Something you might want to try is this: https://www.virustotal.com/

It's an online tool by Google which runs a scan of your chosen file using numerous different scanners. It's useful for weeding out false positives. I've been trying to recall this tool since B72's original post but it was only this evening when the name came back to me!!
