Is it possible to make a database, that starts in the future? My blog save is experiencing a crash at the off-season of 2021, and I'm trying to recreate a database, that would let me continue the story from there on, but the game crashes. It loads up fine if I use the 2020 start year instead of 2021.

Yes - On the Home screen of the Editor, there is a State Date setting in the bottom left corner. Change this to the chosen year (2021), press Enter and then Save.
If you're using the latest version of the TBL or Pivot Rosters then let me know what leagues you're loading on Enhanced and View Only. Similarly, it would be interesting to know what version rosters you created your saved game from and whether you could email a copy of your saved game to me (archibalduk AT gmail DOT com). I would like to figure out why the game crashed and if there is something we need to fix in the databases.

My earlier save crashed, because I had all the leagues running on enhanced (except Belarus Cup). At the time I wasn't aware the game can't handle it. It became obvious later on as the issue was reported several times. But I was hoping I could still keep at it, because I felt I had gone too far to restart. Who knows, maybe my game wouldn't crash.
As for setting the start year to 2021 I just can't seem to get it working. Everything's fine if I use 2020 as my start year, the database loads just fine, all my edits are there. But if I use 2021, it won't go past "Initializing Game Data" as I start a new game. It's basically the latest TBL rosters with the addition of three players I've made myself.

Apologies for the delay. This has been sat on my to-do list for the past few days.
I'm getting the same issue too with the v12.4.1 TBL Rosters. It gets to about 60% of the Initialising Game Data stage and then just freezes. I tried removing the extra_config but it made no difference. I'll try with the Pivot Rosters at lunchtime too and then I'll pick up with Riz as he should be able to tell me what the cause of the crash is.

Okay, thanks. I guess I'll put my story on hold for a while.

No luck with the Pivot Rosters either. I have asked Riz in case it is a game bug. My feeling is that something like one of the tournaments that skips years (e.g. Olympics) might be tripping over but I can't see anything obvious.
I'll let you know.

Tasku - it turns out to be part game bug and part database issue. I haven't tested this fix yet, but I understand you can fix it by doing this:
In the Editor go to the Competitions tab -> Rules & Structure -> World Cup. On the Basic Data screen on the left-hand side there is a setting called "Initial Start Year Offset". Change this to 1 (one). This prevents it clashing with the Olympics which is what is causing the issue (because it is also set to skip Olympic years which means the game doesn't know what to do!).

Hi everyone, I have a different kind of date changing problem. When I try to change the start year to 2022 the database disappears from the start screen drop-down. It looks like the starting year caps at 2021. Is there a workaround for years after 2021 or is that some kind of hard limitation?

That did the trick! Thanks!
But now I have another issue. Not sure if this is related to the start date issue, but for some reason my players are getting a one year contract, even though I've given them contracts that should still last for 2-3 years. The other one is playing in a university team in Hockey East, and the other player is in the QMJHL.
Edit: Doesn't seem to be start date related. This happens wether I change the start date or not...

I think there may have been an issue with the Canadian major junior leagues in TBL Rosters v12.4.1 which could have stemmed from an incorrect setting in the database header. Try with the v12.4.2 Rosters and let me know if you have the same issue. This has at least fixed a weird start date issue I encountered with the Canadian leagues under v12.4.1.

Hmm me too. I think you're probably right - it must be a hardcoded limit. I'll flag with Riz.

Excellent!
We picked up another bug in the DB this morning and so make sure you're running version 12.4.3 if you're planning on running the QMJHL. We'd actually fixed this issue some time back but it looks like we accidentally reset it somehow.

I added my three players to a database which had been downloaded from Steam today (7th May).

You would have to keep the start year of 2020 for that to work, the earliest the game can start is July 1st.

The game functions in seasons from July to June. You cannot change this, it is hardcoded into the game. Your season can exist anywhere in between there.
In terms of where you want the game to start, some rules with playable leagues help determine game start dates per country. If there are any other US leagues in the game it will automatically have a start date to accommodate the earliest league.
Even if you start your schedule in January 2021 to May 2021, it still is part of the 2020-2021 season, but should record as 2021 Champions.
This said, I'm also not sure how the game will behave if you try to schedule your championship after July 1st because of this.

Starting seasons on/after 1 Jan of a season doesn't work unfortunately. I tried this with the Australian league and it wouldn't work correctly. Riz subsequently confirmed that this wasn't possible.
