EHM The Blue Line

I know it's probably actually very simple, but how exactly does online play work? A friend and I bought EHM 07 earlier today, and we've been trying to get an online game set up. But it keeps telling us it's unable to connect. We're both using the same version, and we've both hosted and tried joining at various stages during the game setup. (We've tried after, too, but after the setup is done, it asks me for a save file name repeatedly, and instead of saving, goes to the next day and asks me for one again.)

There's just nothing in the manual about it, and I can't find anything online mentioning how on any of the forums I've checked.

Well, it had information we didn't know, but still didn't solve the problem, whatever it is.

Another forum mentioned setting the port to 10095 instead of 10065. That fixed it.

I wrote that guide for ver 2005, so I guess they changed the ports in 2007

I need help as well setting up my EHM 07 online game. I'm using Windows 2000 professional. I've read through the guide listed in the knowledge base and I encounter an immediate problem on only the second step, so I'm guessing it doesn't work for my computer. Any help would definately be appreciated.
