Few Game Questions

I've been wondering for awhile about these things and I feel that if I bring it here and let you know about it, maybe some of you can help.
What I've been wondering about is what purpose can be served by having a few trainers on your team? What is it that they do? Do they train your player to be better or do they help heal the player when he's hurt? Also, when you have the assistant coaches, what should you look for? Someone who is pretty well averaged all around or someone who strictly works with goaltenders, forwards, or defensemen?
Also, what about the assistant GM? What should be looked for in those if anything at all? I've never noticed the difference of having them around, just as the assistant coaches and trainers, but if someone could let me know what kind of advantage those things could give you, it would be nice to know, thanks.

Trainers are used for healing injured players, and giving advice on their health status. The higher their physical therapy attribute, the faster your players will be healed.
When hiring coaches, look for coaches that has a style of play that fits with your team. They don't have to be good all around coaches. For example, Paul Coffee typically is only good at coaching defensemen and tactics, so he'd be great for only coaching defense, which is fine. If a player is good at both coach offense and defense, that is fine as well.
Since assistant GM's only give their opinions on players in the team report and in trades, the only attributes that need to be good for them are judging player potential and ability.

Another good thing to do with trainers is to always get them to report on players injuries, even minor ones. They can determine if some injuries will become chronic, possibly hampering the players career (I'm looking at you Eric Lindros.)

Trainers also keep your team from being overcome with injuries by watching players in office workouts etc. so unless you want to recreate Philadelphia hire trainers.
There's been quite a bit about coaches, I suggest doing a search of the forums.
Your AGM is responsible for creating your Team Report (and of course you can also use him as a 'slot' for advice in drafts) so he should have good scouting stats.

Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it.
I've just been noticing that honestly if I just base my team around their attributes and not just what kind of stats they've had in other leagues and so forth, then it's not too hard to get a winning team every year.
I use to just look at stats before, but now that I've looked at the attributes, I've started my new game with back-to-back championship seasons with the Rocky Mountain Rage of the CHL.
So honestly, I'm doing good. I also hired 4 trainers with 20 on their physical therapy, so I know that's good.
I also got a new head coach that I hired before the playoffs and he has attributes that are just all around good. He's above 12 in just about every area. So I got him and pushed my old head coach to the assistant coach position. But I might get rid of him, he seems to be more adequate for the assistant GM job, not the assistant coach.
So all in all, I'm been able to do some good. I just hope to continue down that path and break some records along the way.
