Job Offers

Have any of you had teams come to you and offer the job to you? I haven't had this happen to me before, but I remember in my 1st season, I was offered the Blackhawks job. Then in this past 2nd season, I was offered the Maple Leafs, Marlies, Phantoms, Bruins, and Rivermen job.
Just kind of weird, I guess if you show that you can build a great team, then they want you before you would want them.
So, has anyone around here dealt with that?

Nah..you are a GOD GM
Honestly, check your GM settings...betcha you have "Apply for vacant positions in higher org's (or whatever) set to yes. Then you apply for every job higher than the one you have when it is available.
I think J that there is a manual in one of the folders of the on line game. There is alot of information in there that you should check out. Somewhere in here there is a thread or link to that manual in one of your folders for the game. Check it out. It is a good 20 pages or so, and a great read for information for beginners, and those who are experiencing new things with the game for the first time.

The only reason I brought this up was because I don't have that checked in the options menu.
I use to check it off, but I didn't this time around and got all those offers automatically. Kind of weird, because I just never seen that before, but if you are talking about the actual manual that comes with the game, I've printed that out and read it before. It does have a lot of good things on it and then I also printed out and read the tactics manual off of here as well.
But if you are talking about something different, then I haven't seen it.

I guess your rep is just that high then. Plus admin is gonna tell you this should be in the Game Knowledge section. Sorry, can't help more. Maybe these types of questions are better to be asked over at SI Forums as well, since they have more knowledge of why things happen in this fashion.

When I started the game, I set it to rec. player, because I figured I'd make it more real for myself.

Hmm... I thought maybe you had a pumped up reputation so that's why teams had come calling so early on for you.

A somewhat related question.
I noticed by chance while using the savegame editor, that you yourself as manager get assigned a Current Ability and a Potential Ability.
I checked a couple of saves now, and sometimes I had a potential of 70, sometimes 180 and most of the time around 100.
Does anyone know if this randomly (I think) assigned potential has an affect on how clubs view you? Maybe JVanderpool has gotten a very high potential in his game, so teams view him as a better manager than if he had had the same succes gamewise, but had a low potential.

Human players do tend to gain reputation very quickly, and therefore job offers.
I started as the lowest of the low, rec player managing in the English Premier League. One season in, I'd won the EPL cup but underperformed in the league and I got offered jobs in the Canadian juniors. There is no way they would have heard of me let alone wanted me.

I know in the first 4 seasons with the Rage of the CHL, my winning percentage is above .700 for the whole year and in the first 3 years, I won the Ray Miron Cup and also won the Presidents Trophy for most points all 4 years along with that.
So I guess my reputation has went up, but I haven't had any job offers since the 2nd season.
