Selecting lines for crucial moments in the game

Recently I had a one goal lead in a game and scored an empty netter just 10 seconds before the end of the game. Well so far so good, I'm not complaining about this :D, but the goal was scored by Betts, assisted by Hollweg and Warrener. So why does the game put my 4th line and my 3rd D unit out in such an important moment ?
Well, anyway, I was wondering if there's any chance of setting certain lines to play in certain situations, because I do not want my 4th line out there in the 7th game of the Finals protecting a one goal lead in the last minute ??

The easiest way to do it, is to coach games. Then for the last bit of the game edit the lines so you only have the top players on each line. The player's rating, or how I perceive them to be playing also plays in. If one of the 5 listed below has a 5 rating...they do not see the ice and someone else replaces him. I do this occasionally (mainly playoffs), and only for the last minute or 90 seconds so my lines look like:

Line 1:Pitkanen Phaneuf Nash Brule Zherdev
Line 2:Pitkanen Phaneuf Nash Brule Zherdev
Line 3:Pitkanen Phaneuf Nash Brule Zherdev
Line 4:Pitkanen Phaneuf Nash Brule Zherdev

However, if you are not coaching your team...you basically have to rely on what your coach does, and that is life. You ain't the coach, you don't make the choice.

Right, thanks. Thought there was an easier way 8-)

Yes I'm coaching games on my own, usually without text commentary though.

You can also set your icetime for both forwards and defensive pairs to "just two". This way, only your top 2 lines and your top 2 defensive pairs will play. Then you can play with the shift length of each line to adjust their icetime. I usually switch to that system in very closed games with 3-4 minutes remaining. Too long to use just one line, but too important to use the 4th or sometimes even the 3rd.

That is risky. Sometimes it works sometimes it does not. I have seen it work and not work when watching the games. Also, it may not work if you do not take line matching to none.
