I'm bit mad.

I (Ottawa) recently finished a playoff first round series against Atlanta. And yes, I lost 3-4. That happens sometimes but now I feel very unlucky or cheated...

I accept this loss but somehow I have a feeling that computer cheated (like in Gran Turismo -series.. if the other car is faster, you can speed up the latter one...). I would like to know what the h*** I have to do better next year... Or I need to move back to EHM 2005.

I have version 3.0.4.

I lost a game 7 of the Stanley Cup final in triple overtime after leading 3-1 and 4-2 in the second period. (and finishing the season with 145 points)

Oh and did I mention that during the series, Niitymaki, Malkin, Semin, Morris, Smid, Parrish, Ryan and Ovechkin were injured (and Ovechkin was injured during the first period of Game 7)?

I don't think there is a "let's screw with his mind" bug in the game

I can't believe either that it's a bug but in EHM 05 winning was somehow "easier". I don't know can you say easy but if one team was superior to other team, it usually won.. In EHM 07 opponents are scoring very weird goals. Like slapshots from their own goal... I think I need to play worse next year, so I will advance.

Sens choking in the playoffs ? Never heard of that

No I don't think there's cheating, just check the Toronto challenge, half of the people are winning the cup with them and most of the others at least make it into the semi-finals.
Actually in my opinion it's too easy to win in EHM 07, I won the cup in 5 out of 6 seasons played so far, I wish there was a second difficulty level that's unlocked after you win the cup or something

That's nice when you lose with one goal every time when you lose. But then you win with veeeery large margin..

I also noticed that I didn't score A SINGLE GOAL in LAST 10 MINUTES of the game. And none went to overtime. I mean in todays NHL playoffs almost every team equals or come back just few minutes/seconds left. What's the possibility not to score a single goal between 50-60 minutes?? Teams don't score goals enough in last 5 minutes, IMHO.

Oh well... Maybe I need to learn more. I know how to win games in regular season and score goals (Heatley first year 177 points.. realistic indeed..). Somehow I feel computer just goes crazy with me

the issues around come from behind wins:

1. You have a tired team in the third-playing some guys too much.
2. you have an undisciplined team--poor coaching for discipline.
3. The other team gets jacked up from winning a fight
4. The other team goes crazy (like Detroit did last night in real life) trrying to hold on.
5. The other team figured out your tactics, which happens in this game if their coach is "tactically aware"

It is not cheating, and I can see you are joking, but please try and refrain from using that word. It is silly. This issue is something everyone has to work on when new to a game. the AI plays hard, and in a 3rd period, and late in a 3rd period, you have to figure out what to do. We all did. Just some subtle changes and it should work out in the end.

Oh and finally...In the upper right corner there is a little magnifying glass. Had you searched for "success in the playoffs" or some such thing, I am sure you would have found some other topics, and could have just posted in them. Just a tip.

Definitely not cheating Could be frustrating for sure, but those things occur in real life too. As an example: where were the Sharks in this year's playoff second round against Detroit? Absolutely nowhere, while most of the people thought they would just destroy the Wings. Did the Wings cheated to win? No sir. They just did the job and win the series. Same for Buffalo against Ottawa. And that's only two examples

That might be true. I like to overload two best lines (you can see the plus-minus).

The one who coaches goalies has discipline level of 8... Thanks for advice. Otherwise seems to be ok (have for example Randy Carlyle as an assistant).

Yes they seem to do.

Yes that might be true also. Atlanta played 4th line against my 1st. But still those guys went to minus (and my guys got +5 to +9).

Team leaders: Chris Drury, Daniel Alfredsson, Scott Niedermayer, Chris Pronger, Jeff Carter (all have 17 or more)

I have Niittymäki. Bad positioning. Otherwise quite excellent. Yes, I have searched better but everyone are untouchable.

Same for Buffalo against Ottawa.
If you mean this year, Ottawa was far superior. Last year they had that bad luck you mentioned...

Ottawa was far superior on the ice for sure But on paper, according to the regular season and the use to fall in the post-season for Ottawa, Buffalo was clearly top-ranked for this series

Heh yeah certain players seem to be brutal in this game. Something similar would've happened to me with Marleau and Svatos in the Toronto challenge, they were on pace for 160 points after 20 games, I was scoring like crazy but was giving up too many goals, 4.5 goals for on average but also 3.5 against, I assume because I wasn't matching lines, at least it changed dramatically after I did, often my first would play against the other team's 4th line and vice versa. I was getting unrealistic results all the time.

You may not be sure about Neil and a goon...however it is a proven tactic in this game that if you dress an enforcer, and get behind...encourage dude to fight. If he "wins" the fight (which you won't know for sure until after the game, by checking stats, but can get an idea from the play x play) your team usually gets an immediate boost.

Around these parts, and in my games where I have had him, Derek Boogard is known as the slump ender, and streak starter. One fight he had turned around a game I was losing 4-0 with 3 minutes left in the 2nd. I killed his instigator easily, and won the game 8-4. Yes 8 goals, 2 in the last minute of the 2nd 6 in the third. And Boogie got one of em. My CBJ squad then proceeded to win the next 12 games, with the closest being 5-2.

In the Leafs challenge, I discovered it can work in the playoffs too, although it can backfire even worse if you lose the fight.

I try to get some decent and cheap defensemen and I intend to give away few centers. Any suggestions?

Try Eric Cairns. He'll be a defensive pillar and also an enforcer for you. Do not ask him to play offensively though.
He gave me many good season in my Dallas game.
You could grab him easily and cost a fistfull of peanuts

Radek Martinek is decent for a 3rd pairing. Same with Beauchemin...these are guys noone speaks about for some reason.


Also guys like Clymer, Kwiatkowski can be huge helps. As both play up front as well.

Plus Clymer can be had fairly cheaply and Kwiatkowski can be gotten for free off waivers. That's always nice!
