EHM The Blue Line

Here is my current lineup

D.Sedin - H.Sedin - Naslund
Fisher - Drury - Melichercik
Pyatt - Bates - Ortmeyer(inj)
LaCouture - Linden - Cooke

Allen(inj) - Montador
Jackman - Jokela
Ohlund - Salo

Luongo
Shields

I'm having trouble withn my second line. Drury hasn't recorded a point six games. Fisher hasn't recorded a point in nine games. I've tried everything and nothing works. Also I could probably use another RW since Melichercik blows...any ideas? I'm close to the cap, and that will cause me problems. Right now Ortmeyer is hurt (Cooke is replacing him, Hansen will take over for Cooke) and Allen is hurt (Tremblay is replacing him) I'm two games over two hundred, thats because my first line is ripping it up.

I would put one of Drury and Fisher with the Sedins for a few games, even though that top line is ripping it up.

Your second line wingers...well...aren't good enough for second line wingers. Your defence doesn't have that much depth either.
You should probably spread the scoring talent a bit if you don't want to do any trades, as there's too much on the first line (if there is something like too much talent on a line ) and not enough on the other lines.

I am hoping he posted his defense backwards. Ohlund-Salo in that group of dmen should be the number one pair. If Matty is not getting at least 25 minutes of ice time per game...something needs to be done about that. And I agree his 2nd line wingers are not second line players. I actually have found Pyatt to play quite well with the Sedins in the game as well as in real life. However, he needs a break every few games because he cannot handle 1st line ice time for an extended period of time, and his play suffers every 5th game or so. I would almost try:

Sedin-Sedin-Pyatt
Bates-Drury-Naslund

and move Nazzy up when Pyatt tires for a couple of games...and Melicherchik or whatever the fake name is again for Balej to the 2nd line, leaving Pyatt out or on 4th line for a couple of games. Cooke can also play spot duty on 2nd line.

Ohlund is playing more than 25 minutes a game, same with Salo. My third line plays the other teams 1st line. My second line plays the other teams 2nd line. 1 line plays against the other teams 3rd line....and my fourth line plays against the other teams 4th line. Why would I want Allen and Montador playing with my third line shutting down the other teams top line?

NO issue there. Just wanted to make sure that you had those two playing a heck of alot more than the other four. You would be surprised what some people do....


SO there is another option for you as well. Don't match 2 vs 2. You could change that matchup. Over time the other teams will get used to your matchup tactics...move who you play in what spot around.

Oh, and so you know...using my third d-pair against other teams top lines when I need to, usually works fine for me.

Has in both challenges (Tor and CBJ) and my career CBJ game. Partly because unless you are setting a 4th dpair as well...the 3 pairs of defensemen just rotate in and out with the fourth line for me. SOmetimes I get my 1 and 3, sometimes 2 and 3, sometimes 2 and 4...and whether they are right side or left side as I play them does not matter.

But you wanted roster help so again,....what Danny said. Your 2nd line wingers are not good enough to be 2nd line wingers.

Iam actually using the lines you've gave me and its working pretty well. Pyatt isn't racking the points like Naslund up on the first line but he's playing well. Drury is finally coming around, and Bates is surprisingly doing well. Thank you for your help.

Good to hear, and no sweat. Yeah, Pyatt won't go crazy like Nazzy,with the twins, but Nazzy will make Drury better...in fact at some pt may want to move Drury-Nazzy to line 1, and the twins to 2. Eases the pressure on the ice time for twins, and Pyatt....and Drury is capable of line 1 minutes.
