Wrong Players Playing PP/PK

I tried to search for this, but I wasn't exactly sure what to type in so my search results weren't very good.

Ok this is what I've been noticing not just with my team, but with other computer controlled teams.

I let my coach take control of my games, but not my tactics or player selection or anything like that. When I look at the box score after the game has played, sometimes I see the wrong players scoring goals on the PP or PK.

Here's a power play example.

Those guys should never be on the power play, and I know I don't have them set to be.

Here's a penalty Kill example.

It will show a goal scored by Briere, assisted by Zetterberg, and Hudler. Now there are 2 problems with this scenario. 1st, those 3 aren't set to be on the PK and they shouldn't be. The 2nd problem is that why are there 3 forwards on the PK when there should be 2 forwards and 2 Dmen, or 1 forward and 2 dmen.

I understand that sometimes players that are set to play in certain situations may be unavailable because of injury or they may be serving a penalty, but I've checked for that, and thats not the case.

I've see this quite a bit. Have you guys noticed this or do you know how to fix it?
Thanks!

Never seen it because I always coach and watch my games. :-D

One thing I do notice is that coaches will often play your top line players on PK with a goon...because of goon's bravery. And it could be that the goal you are speaking of happened on a line change. I once had a goal which was Ohlund (Salo, Mitchell)pp

so yeah, strange things happen, often on line changes.

Not sure about Maltby, Draper, Ortmeyer on the pp. Sometimes coaches do weird things.

It must be a line change. I can't see any other reason something like that would ever happen. I've had offensive players get shorthanded goals because they were on the PK because one of my assigned PKers was in the penalty box. I've never seen it the other way around though. It's got to be a line change thing. Nothing else really makes sense. :dunno:

Yup, i tend to think it's on a linechange too :-k

For the pp, sometimes your coach may put other players on his pp lines, according to how they perform during the game, or if the top players are momentarly tired. I do that sometimes, so maybe the AI does the same way :dunno:

And well, a goal is a goal, no matter who scores it! :D

I took notice that even though you actually may setup your tactics and lines. When it comes around for the actual game to begin, the coach still changes some stuff up here and there.

Also, I have noticed that sometimes it can be just from the line change idea as well. Heck, that even happens to me when I am playing myself. Sometimes I will see Ovechkin score a few goals here and there with a few guys from the 2nd line.

As said befor, those are usually line changes.
Check the highlights of the game to see the goals and exactly what happened ;)

When you say coaching you own games. Does watching the boxscore but fast forwarding it still count as coaching your own? I do that.

Yes that is still counting as you coaching the game yourself or atleast keeping control of it when someone is injured or kicked out of the game.
