I have played around a bit with defensive strategies when I have a lead but I seem to always hit walls n the 3rd and the opposition always bring the game back to a close one. What strategies (formations etc) do you set your lines at in unit tactics?

Interested in getting some feedback, I think my formations are hurting me, not really aware what each does. 2005 was better where you could pick trap knowing it's your most defensive formation.

Did you look at your player conditions, both after 2 periods and post game? If you have certain strategies like hard hitting, back checking, etc, on your players may be exhausted and giving up more scoring chances as a result late in the game. The flip side of course is with lighter hitting, backchecking and so on enabled, they probably give up more scoring chances earlier in the game.

Condition is the most possible option... The workrate of your goalie is another viable cause of those comebacks. Well, in fact, the workrate of your whole team. And the leadership too. I'm used to be the one who make the comebacks, but i usually have a hardworking and highly determined team with many leaders who can motivate the troops. So if a opposing team come back to you and you have no-one to lead the guys to some resistance, it should explain why the opposition manages to come back.

So condition, workrate and leadership are the main possible reasons for your issue. I don't see tactics as an issue here. If your tactical set works during 2 periods, it should work in the third, even if your opponents may have changed their tactics to try to come back.
