Geek Hockey (General Discussion)

The first set of games for Geek Hockey will take place next weekend! I will post the fixtures in one moment...
We still have a number of spaces and so users are still welcome to sign-up. If anyone wants to sign-up then please post in
the sign-up thread.
Because there haven't been enough volunteers for captains, I will be a captain. I am happy to relinquish my captaincy at any point if one of my team mates wishes to take over. I would actually prefer a team mate to be the captain because I don't want it to look like I'm fixing the games!
The way it is going to work is that one game will be played every weekend. Players will be able to set their mentality (Agressive/Balanced/Conservative) by the end of the Thursday before the game takes place. If a player has not set their mentality by the end of that Thursday then their captain will be able to set their mentality for them. As the games will not take place until a Saturday or Sunday, the captain will have one or two days to set their mentality. If the captain doesn't set their mentality then it will default to the previous game's mentality.
Additionally, a captain can set the mentality of any team mate that did not set their mentality for the previous game.
If a team loses a game, the Team Captain is allowed to alter the attributes of up to three players on his team (including himself). For each of the three players, he can move up to two attribute points from one or two skills to one or two other skills. Attributes cannot be moved between players. Teams may want to discuss how they move attributes, but the Team Captain has the final say.
There are further rules that I have posted in the sign-up thread but these do not need to be repeated here. I will re-post the other rules (such as the pre-season draft) as and when they are needed.

Because we have a a number of free spaces in most of the teams, I have filled these with "grey" players. In other words, they are randomly created players. As and when new users sign-up I will replace the grey players with them. I have given the Team Captains the opportunity to customise the attributes of their grey players. Once they have gotten back to me (I will give them until Monday) I will post the team rosters and then we can start the games. I will create a separate thread to post your mentalities in due course...
Here is the schedule:

I will be creating a new thread especially for posting the mentality. However, I am waiting for a response from the team captains about their grey players before I create the thread.

I can't post the team lists until the team captains have all given me the attributes of their created players. I have sent a PM to each team captain asking them to create their players. You (Gibson) are the only one to reply so far. Joe Helmer needs to create two forwards and a defenceman. Loxish needs to create one defenceman. Once they have done this I shall post the rosters with a list of each players' skills.

Oh, so at first I missunderstood, so I have only one gray player at the team, that's fine, but you could let me know who are the added teammates, that way I could set up the attributes more according to team weaknesses...esses?....esses?!

Ok that's a good point! The grey players are named after real life hockey players. You can tell which players need to be created by their captains because they currently have all zeros for their attributes.
It's hard to line up the data in a nice table in a post but it was the best I could do:
GS = Glovesave
SS = Sticksave
CH = Checking
PC = Pokecheck
PA = Passing
SH = Shooting

Don't worry! I haven't forgotten about you! I going to slot you into one of the teams once the team captains have set the attributes for their grey players. You'll be in ready for the first game of the season.

Hey! Im a Blackhawk!! Check up sign up thread...
As a red blooded Habs fan, I cant be associated NEAR the Nords!!
Didnt you get the press memo with the picture of me practising with the team??
Funny party is, I did have the same Cooper trapper he used!

I think the teams might've been reshuffled to fill out teams. I had also signed up for the Blackhawks. I think we were the only ones to sign up for that team, so I'm thinking we got sent to fill out the Nords roster and the Blackhawks team was made up entirely of "grey" players.

You can now post your mentalities here:
http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... php?t=3691
The thread also has an updated list of rosters. The first round of games will take place this weekend.
Timmi611 - I've placed you on Hartford's roster.
Fellow Quebec teammates (Loosie, B72 and Sfbukle) - how about we experiment with something like conservative defencemen, two aggressive forwards and one balanced forward?

All I know..is ... in the game vs Minnesota expect batdad to run hogwild all over pitiful little Tasku and his conservative, wussy defense style. He is to scared to go at me.

Sounds like a plan, but I read this after I set my mentality, so if B72 wants to be the other aggressive forward I cna switch to balanced.

Hah! All talk! With my conservative style, I'll sit back and watch as you twirl yourself out of it. Then a quick turn around and a well placed pass into the blue line. SCORE!

Me aggressive, catchup aggressive, timmis agressive, joehelmer in net all balances and zen, bigargon balanced..
MINNESOTA you ask? Horsemeat.
Plus we have Gordie Howe...who just by his name...A-G-G-R-E-S-S-I-V-E
joe's goals against won't be good but we will beat you 22-12
