Inappropriate timing of signings

Stopped playing the game for a while due to work and study and the like.....however picked back up again and have been playing as the Kelowna Rockets in the dub.

This is now the second season in a row where i have had both guys who are drafted being signed or recalled during my mem cup/playoff run. I dont remember this happening last time i played the game???

I've had guys recalled to thier NHL teams while im going for the cup only to do absolutely nothing on their team and be sent back (like a month later!!) after i have lost the cup (cause i lose my best guys!!!) or i just had Luke Schenn signed *GET THIS!!!* by the Wilkes Barre/Scranton penguins!!!! he's an LA Kings draft pick!!! right at the start of my playoff run!! is this game serious???!!?? why on earth would he EVER do that??/

anyway, i just lost my best D-man and will probably lose the chance at the cup again due to this.

Does anyone know how to fix this or if this is normal?

I am using latest patch 3.0.4.

It's normal. It's just something you have to fight through.

Yeah it sucks bid time but just to let you know your team is not the only one it happens too. It happens to all junior teams in the WHL, OHL, and QMJHL with loaned players being called up to the pro's during the Mem cup. You can do two things A: take control of that NHL team and send them back or B: Just play with what you have and hope the other team your going against also lost some of their best players and give it your best shot. I have been able to win the cup with out my star players before it’s a challenge but this is when you need to improve your tactics to succeed.

great idea! i think i will take control of that team and send my guys back. well to let you know i actually ended up winning the cup amazingly (mind you i do have a goalie that would rock in the NHL and hes only just turned 17) so that made me feel a little better.

Anyone else find that the timing of the draft a little annoying? having to draft before the end of the finals and you have about 8 guys on the team who you know you will get rid of but you have to keep to keep winning so you need to get rid of prospects and hope that no one else signs them. plus you cant trade away 19 year olds who wont play next year is frustrating.

This is just one of those bugs that is never going to be fixed. Its too bad this great game is no longer under active development.

The timing of the draft for the leagues is the same in real life as it is in the game.

true but the Sim should realize that if a junior team is in the league's playoffs or in the memorial cup run then it shouldn't allow NHL teams the right to call up prospects. It should only allow non-playoff teams or teams that are knocked out of the playoffs to be allowed to call them up so I guess this was something that was missed or over looked during the time patches where created for the game.

Didn't Riz or Marc say something a while back when it was first posted that the game was done that on there spare time they could do some minor adjustments to the game? I am sure I saw one of them post this in the SI forums but I guess that is never going to happen now with the way FM is getting all of the attention.

regarding the draft and going over the alloted spaces on your reserve list and still playing mem cup the way i have "created" a few spaces is by releasing rights to prospects that i have signed and are waiting till the end of the season to join my team. i usually have at least 2 or 3 and that means a few more spaces. the mem cup finishes and i release the old guys and the new prospects take thier spots on the reserve list.

I've now played a full season since my last post and i've found the game to be quite good at putting general managers back into thier original spots after i take control of the team to send back my prospects. usually i take control of 3 or 4 teams and the guy who "resigned" usually goes back to his team. i mean what would detroit be without Kenny Holland!!?? ;)

WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!
Luke Schenn is the coveted property of the Toronto Maple Leafs, he is in no way involved with the LA Kings, sorry I could not let that go unsaid.

Depends on the database you use. IN some he is not even drafted.
