EHM The Blue Line

Has anyone ever had an unhappy player quit on them despite not doing anything such as disciplining the player or making them available to be traded or purchased?

I am running the Sheffield Steelers of the EIHL and sniper J.J. McGrath, despite being tied for the team lead in goals, stated that he was unhappy (the official line went something like 'feels he is being victimized by you') and then quit the next day despite extending his goal scoring streak to 5 games. It's not like he doesn't get playing time, he's my top Right Wing and plays on the PP...

Oh well, will have to move on, just wondering if anyone had seen that before.

Happens a lot in EHM in the EIHL and EPL. Most common is when you play in the EPL, I was GM of the Sheffield Scimitars and I had about 4 players with unhappy status "wants to move on to a stronger team". I made them available once they eventually asked me to, but no one was interested. After a while, they quit, and became free agents after 2 weeks, although I made them an offer as a free agent and strangely they re-signed for me.

I had a similar situation in the NHL. Ilya Kovalchuk decided he "wants a new challenge" early in the second year of a 3 yr/23.1 mil deal. I refused to put him on the block (that would have cost me my job at that point). He played out the contract unhappy, rejecting numerous contract offers at the max amt (8.8m/yr). So I waived him in June to make way for new prospects on my reserve list.

He got picked up by Colorado, but never signed. So, I made him a free agent offer, and got him for another 3 yrs/$21m!!!

Life is strange sometimes.

A player who I was about to promote from my AHL team to my NHL team just decided to not play. I couldn't dress him or anything. Just had to trade him away.

I had I think Thomas Greiss as a goalie once, I put him in the ECHL IIRC, then he wen't absent, he wasn't happy when he came over from europe unser false pretenses, can't remember if I was able to trade him, I don't think so, so I just released him and he ended up back in europe.
