No Restrictions Error

After reinstalling Windows XP, I've encountered an error and can't start the game anymore. I've tried Error Checking my hard drive (it's 600 GB so you can imagine how long that took!), redownloading the game and the patch, reinstalling a dozen times, closing programs running in the background, pretty much everything I can think of, but it just won't go away. Searching the forums I found no one else who had yet encountered similar error message.
Any ideas?
Please?

Nevermind, problem solved!
One of my four memory combs was apparantly corrupt. Works fine after removing it and reinstalling the game yet again.

Oh, Tasku that sounds not goood!
Could be several reasons for that problem:
1. When installing win xp have you first formated your harddrive? Or have you installed the xp software just above an existing operation system??
2. Did you change the files system of your hard drive (e.g. from NTFS to FAT)??
3. Sounds a bit weird, but it could also be a system time error. Did you somehow change or system time?

I'm having this same problem, can you perhaps tell me to how to fix it?
I'm pretty competent with computers but I've never heard of a "memory comb(s)".

Memory stick. Your DIMMs. It was faulty memory. RAM.

How would I fix this? I'm on a laptop.

I'm pretty sure laptops have replaceable memory too. If you don't know how to do it, maybe bring it in to your local computer shop and have them do it.

In my case though, the computer was showing signs of instability on other things aswell, which lead me to think I might have a hardware problem. If you have other stability issues with your computer, this may be the case for you too. Then again, for you there might be other reasons behind it.
I never did find out what would be the normal software based problem that would result in such an error message.

Replace the RAM? Ouch. I haven't had any problems with this computer before (it belongs to my mother) so I'm not sure if replacing the RAM is neccesary.
If it comes down to that I guess I'll just have to live without EHM when I'm at my mom's.

RAM is not very expensive though - about 20 euros per stick (25 dollars?), depending on the speed and amount. You prolly do have more than one stick attached, meaning you can remove them one at a time to see which one is broken. That is as long as you know where they are located. If you don't, better not do it yourself. Not that it's very hard or complicated at all, but still...
If it is corrupt memory then the puter will have trouble doing other chores that used to be simple as well. It may have trouble booting, and you may need to try starting it several times before it can go to Windows. It may crash and restart with no apparent reason. Or just common software instability. Stuff like that. These thing may not be constant, but the occasional instability will occur.
If it's bad memory stick it'll have to be replaced at some point anyway, eventually it will fail completely.
