Can anyone tell me how to avoid 1/2 the team getting low morale and becoming unhappy when I take a long vacation and (apparently) do not praise the players when the opportunities arrise?
Thanks!

Don't take long vacations.

How does your team do during that period of time? They may not like the Assistant who takes over? Maybe they just miss their GM.

Thank you for the warm welcome, I’ve been around for a month or two but never posted until now.
I have found my team plays very well (~.700) likely because I have assembled a really good staff and set my vacation options for the coach not to change anything unless he has to. I have traced the problem by looking through my messages and determined the players become unhappy when I don't praise them or others on the team; some have even demanded trades.
The part of the game I find most intriguing is player development and team building around the trade deadline and offseason. For this reason I want to sim quickly through large portions of the season.
Judging by your initial response there is no way around this… I guess I’ll just have to slow down the pace a bit and enjoy my many victories one game at a time.

You could go on vacation as long as you have 23 roster players and you tone down the practices. Do not let the head coach run practice while you are away, he won't put players on rest.

Hi Peterman, have you had success with going on long (>4 weeks) vacations without the team getting unhappy by reducing the practice schedule?

Interesting... I will give it a try but I'm not sure it will address my problem because I have never manually ran practices (always coach-run) in over 20 game years and never had the team get unhappy from this to my knowledge.
Crossing my fingers...
