EHM The Blue Line

Hello. I recently drafted a whole lot of great people in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, including Hedmen and John Tavares.

I thought the standard rookie contract was required to be a two-way contract, so I signed all of the ones I wanted to keep to contracts right away.

I want my picks to develop for at least another year or so before bringing them to the NHL, and while I was able to send Hedmen to the AHL, and a couple of my other picks to the ECHL and CHL, I am completely unable to send my main guy, John Tavares down.

As you can see in the included photograph, I only have the ability to send him through waivers, which, as you can imagine, is NOT what I want.

Can anyone tell me of any ways I can send him down without putting him through waivers? I don't want to risk him being taken up!

Under 20 year old players can't be sent down to AHL without clearing waivers. I believe CHL rights also have something to do with it. Your best bet is to send him to the juniors.

He can't send him to the juniors, which is really strange. It can be because Tavares was drafted by Oshawa in 2005 when it should be 2003(?)

I'm using Lidas' rosters, v1.1....does anyone else ever have that problem???

I think you will be able to send him to juniors during or around the training camp. Now, you're in August, so I'd advice you to wait till training camp, then scout him again, request coaches reports. Then you can decide whether to send him to juniors or let him play in your NHL team all season.

Players under the age of 20 cannot be sent to the minors if their rights are held by a junior club. McQwak is right. As you get closer to the start of the season, you will have the option of returning Tavares to his junior club.
