TBL Fantasy Hockey Signup

As usual, we will be having a fantasy hockey league this year.
This league, however, will not be a one-year deal. This one will be a "keeper league", and is intended to be a continuing annual TBL event.
The rules and settings haven't been 100% set, but here are the basics of this league:
1. Our league is completely free to play. It will be hosted by ESPN, using the "Head to Head: Most Categories" scoring format. This is the standard scoring format used in Yahoo! Fantasy Hockey. I will be the Commissioner of the league, with some of the TBL mods/admins helping out.
2. What "keepers" means: A certain number of certain players will be designated as "keepers". These players will remain on your roster for the next year. So, wise drafting will be required as you'll now be drafting not only for this year, but for next year as well.
3. The league will have 14 teams.
4. Since this will be an ongoing league, we will be featuring a promotion/relegation system to continuously give people a chance to play. The way this will work is at the end of each year, the bottom 4 GMs in the standings will lose their spot in the league, and be replaced by someone on a waiting list. The waiting list will be made up of all TBL users who want to play, but don't currently have a team. The list will be prioritized by post-count here at TBL, and spamming to raise your post count at any time will not be tolerated, as usual. The use of post-count is done simply to add weight to those users who participate in the community on a regular basis.
Full ESPN Fantasy Hockey rules can be found
Here.
So, let the signups begin! To apply, simply post your email address in this thread.
Signup closes September 19, 2009. At that point, applicants will be accepted into the league according to post-count. Those with more posts will be more likely to get a team. The remaining applicants will be placed on the waiting list.
P.S. Please keep this thread to signup only. All TBL Fantasy Hockey talk should go
Here.

Just a small update:
I have expanded the league to 14 teams, and this will most-likely be the maximum due to roster issues when going above 15 teams.
As a result of a slightly bigger league, the relegation zone has increased from three teams to four teams. This will allow for the promotion of one extra GM each year from the waiting list, as well as increase the number of non-relegated GMs from nine to ten.
Also... the signup of Manimal, rottamies, and corinthian have been accounted for from the TBL-ESPN Fantasy Hockey thread. You guys aren't required to post again in this thread.

So if I understand that correctly those who get relegated have to sit out an entire year ? Or are out of it completely ?

Correct, just a year (at least). It definitely won't be permanent.
They'll be relegated to the waiting list, while the top four on the waiting list will be promoted to the league to take the now vacant bottom four teams. From year two and onwards, someone who was relegated to the waiting list in a previous year, could very well be one of the four GMs next in line to be promoted.
And remember, the waiting list is ranked according to post count here at TBL. So, the more active you are as a TBL member, the better your chances of quickly being promoted back into the league.
EDIT: I think I need new contacts... I'm seeing a post from batdad himself, but that can't be.

Yeah that was me. I have been around a bit more again lately. Have a little more time...not much but a little.
Oh, and BTW--For those who get relegated and sit out a year, there is nothing stopping you from say...starting your own league for that season, just to give you something to do...I mean, I may be in that boat.

Yeah I don't mind it, I just thought it's a rather unconventional approach. I'll probably be in the middle of the pack as usual in that type of games. I'm like, the fantasy Leafs, not good enough for the playoffs, too stupid to tank.

You're right, it is a pretty unconventional approach. But with this hopefully being an ongoing TBL league, I thought it'd be the fairest (and most realistic) way to continuously keep the league open to new members, instead of just the people who were around for the league's formation.
Plus, it'll hopefully create more competition in the league, with each of us knowing that we could lose our team. It should also provide more fun for everyone, too: the bottoms teams will no longer be left with nothing to play for at the end of the season - they'll be able to continue fighting to avoid relegation.
And more importantly, those who get bored and bail on their team during the season will probably fall to these bottom four spots. At which point they'll be relegated and replaced with someone who will hopefully be more active.

If I can get in this year, me too, but that's unlikely on post counts. 10th last year, not so bad.
Otherwise, if we get another 14 players I'd be up for a 'second division' league, say the top 3/4 get promoted to the main competition, instead of leaving players in the dark for a year?
Actually, may not work well with keeper leagues: the 'promotees' would have to take over already-drafted teams which didn't do well in the first year. Never mind then...

It could still work and depending on the turn-out, could be in the cards. With a keeper league, you don't actually have to keep all of the players you draft. We're only keeping a limited number of them. A team could easily recover in season 2 if they did poorly in season 1 because you'd be drafting a whole new team minus the "kept" players.

True, maybe the challenge of joining the league would be similar to taking over a underperforming hockey team... could be quite interesting.
How many players would be 'kept' each year, do you know? Is it pre-determined who's a keeper and who isn't?

I'm not sure. Stinson? Any idea?
